DAQMAN NAPS A CLASSIC NEWCOMER: Daqman has seldom if ever napped a newcomer before but it brought him a 20-point haul from Chantilly Lace at Salisbury yesterday, a two-year-old filly against the colts. By Lope De Vega, whose son, Look de Vega, is one of the favourites for the Arc, she cruised clear after getting company from the same yard’s grey colt Brize Norton.

Chantilly Lace will target the Fred Darling trial next Spring with the Classics in mind. Look out for Daqman’s top two-year-olds following the Arc meeting, with a final revision after Champions Day.

TWO WINNERS OUT OF THREE BETS: Daqman doubled up in the very next race, music to his ears when Bob Mali brought his profit on the day to 28 points from two winners out of three bets.

WON 6-4 CHANTILLY LACE (nap)
WON 11-10 BOB MALI

The contest between the countries lines up as France 9, Ireland 3, England 2, Germany 1, Japan 1. Sixteen runners.

THE SO-VERSATILE EAGLE

⭕ 2.47 Ascot A gloomy, cloudy day forecast and the Frankel gelding Hutchence has run twice on soft or heavy and failed to reach the first four.

Firm ground and blinkers first time helped him bag back-to-back wins in the summer but put him up 13lb and he is the only three-year-old in the race.

Maxident won first time out but in 10 races since has failed to trouble the judge and he seems stuck on a handicap mark that’s just beyond him. Can Oisin Murphy change his luck or, indeed, his temperament?

Wonderful Eagle has won three on the soft in Germany for Henk Grewe and five over hurdles, one on heavy, for Philip Hobbs. Success has ranged from 1m 2f to 2m 5.5f and he has recently scored back to back, Flat and hurdles.

True Legend has run in the Brown Jack Stakes at Ascot, the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle and he Summer Handicap at Goodwood.

BECKETT AND RYAN AGAIN

⭕ 3.57 Ascot (Noel Murless Stakes) Ralph Beckett and Rossa Ryan again, so good with fillies, climbing the ratings 22lb with Allonsy and now asking her to step up by a quarter of a mile.

She’s also up two grades to Listed level and has never won on the soft, though she did score at Epsom on good to soft in a class-5 handicap.

It’s asking a lot, but confidence in her has always been there, favourite seven races in succession.

Another who has been climbing the ranks is Subsequent, 13lb higher now after scoring at this trip on the July Course and not getting the pace he needs, going down narrowly in the class-2 Mallard at Doncaster.

Tabletalk was 10th in the Derby. Other than that he has no experience of cut in the ground and it was firm when he won the Melrose at York.

Go Daddy has been third at this sort of trip, including in the German Derby and the Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury, and is a winner on soft ground.

CRYSTAL CLEAR

⭕ 8.00 Newcastle Rebecca Menzies has her yard in cracking form at the moment with five winners from the last 22 runners – three from her last four runners at Newcastle have also won with the other one refusing to race.

I think her mare here Kyber Crystal has an outstanding chance of boosting the stats even further. She makes a quick reappearance (off the same mark) after finishing second at Musselburgh on Wednesday when she looked a little unlucky having struggled for room.

We can debate whether she is a moral ‘winner without a penalty’ but undoubtedly remains well handicapped off her current mark.

She’s mainly been kept to the turf but ran well on her only previous start here when fourth last month.

Danny Tudhope rode a four-timer here last night boosting his sensational run of current form to 11111161185.

His ride here Musical Diva might be the danger. She has paid the handicapping price after winning back to back races in January but is edging down the weights.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
