BEST OFFERS AT TWO TOP MEETINGS: It’s just the beginning at Cheltenham but close to the end at Doncaster. Where’s the value; that’s the question. Daqman has some answers.
VALUE 11.5 THE IRISH RAIDER
⭕ 1.15 Cheltenham (2m 4f handicap hurdle) John McConnell, who won this 2m 4f handicap hurdle in 2022 at 10-1, is back for another go with former Scottish Champion Hurdle star, Anna Bunina, claimed off so an overall 12lb down the handicap and fit from her sixth in the Newmarket Cesarewitch.
In The Air is raised in class after an overall 12lb hit for scoring twice in October already. Push The Button has also scored twice but that was last autumn not this.
Betdaq Betting Exchange 5 In The Air, 11.5 Anna Bunina
TWO TO TAKE ON A FAVOURITE
⭕ 2.25 Cheltenham (2m handicap chase) The Irish dominate the novice chase (at 1.50) with four of the five runners, and last year’s winner of this, Dancing On My Own, is sent over again by Henry de Bromhead to bid for a repeat.
Sadly, Rachael Blackmore is on the sidelines with a neck injury after a fall at Downpatrick in late September, so Darragh O’Keeffe takes over at 7.1 on BETDAQ.
But last year’s runner-up, Triple Trade, who won next time in the big race at the November meeting here, is back for more, 4lb worse off but with Harry Cobden booked by Joe Tizzard.
I find it difficult to back a Tizzard horse: he scored 3-6 last week but has missed strike since with four consecutive losing outright favourites.
Tizzard gives himself two chances here, also saddling the Silver Trophy Chase third in April, Scarface – to be ridden by Brendan Powell – but he’s flopped the last twice he’s returned after a break.
The favourite, Matata, has taken on some high-grade tasks since winning from a small field at Ffos Las a year ago. He seems best fresh but this is his first chase (or hurdle) outside novice company, which reveals his slow maturity.
Calico has had a long break, and his last run fresh was here on the Old Course over this CD last November, beaten threeparts of a length, giving 9lb to Triple Trade.
He’s 6lb better off and, with the team in form, Harry Skelton is back aboard Calico.
BETDAQ 5.6 taken.
BIG BETDAQ OFFERS: 10.5, 11.5
⭕ 2.43 Doncaster Back to where the season began, the mile at Doncaster in March, when Ralph Beckett didn’t know he had waiting for him £3.5m in prizemoney and the staggering success of Bluestocking in the Arc. He is trainer of the year.
But it’s not all champagne. Here he is still struggling to get Whiskey Pete into the winner’s enclosure for the first time since York last October.
Still off the same mark since winning on the soft over a mile that day, maybe he should never have tried 1m 2f and 1m 4f, which has seen him stuck on second twice, beginning and ending his season on a mark of 89.
York last October was also Apiarist’s sole success and he’s crept up just 6lb overall. One win on firm in August has kept Bennetot going.. going slightly downhill in fact, 3lb lower than 12 races ago.
The only progress I’ve found is in the careers of Flying Finn and Ebts Guard, a good winner at Ascot the last day and up 10lb from nine starts since losing his maiden in June.
Flying Finn tried Listed level the last day after three strikes 30lb apart, including a CD win at Doncaster.
But could Harper’s Ferry return to form, so seemingly precocious he ran at Royal Ascot behind Calandagan? Gelded since.
The grey winner in Ireland, Mr King ran really well in the Cambridgeshire since moving to Scotland. It’s a tough call.
Betdaq Betting Exchange 4.4 Harpers Ferry, 10.5 Mr King, 11.5 Ebts Guard
ZIP IN FOR 6.4 ZOUM ZOUM
⭕ 3.18 Doncaster Ralph Beckett is also trying to get a win out of Zoum Zoum who has not been disgraced in the Pattern. Drops a grade here on the soft ground that suits.
Altmore sauntered home on the soft at Pontefract, and is still unexposed; gets a stone from Zoum Zoum, which sets up a match. BETDAQ 2.8 versus 6.4.
Wodao is 0-13 since winning a Listed. Aleezdancer runs his best races here but likes big fields.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
