Manchester United will be happy to have another game so soon after their humiliating 6-1 defeat to Manchester City on Sunday. Even though the match is against Aldershot Town in the Carling Cup, Sir Alex Ferguson will demand a significant improvement on the last performance – whatever side he chooses for tonight’s clash.
The Red Devils remain unbeaten on their travels since the start of the season, but they have recently dropped points at Stoke and Liverpool over the past few weeks.
Aldershot will have to play out of their skins if they’re to pull off a huge upset and they can currently be backed at around 15.0 on BETDAQ. The Shots have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last seven attempts and things won’t be any easier against a resurgent United side. Before the Shots’ win against Dagenham on the weekend, Dean Holdsworth’s team had lost five on the spin – conceding an average of two per game on that run.
Given it’s the Carling Cup it will mean Michael Owen will likely be given another outing, especially after his well taken brace against Leeds in the last round. This will be the second time these two clubs have met and the first meeting was won by the Red Devils 3-1.
Even with a much changed line-up, I cannot see United failing to win this one and I’m happy to tip United to be ahead at the break and final whistle at 1.68 on BETDAQ.
