NO RACING AT TRAMORE: The course remains waterlogged. SHAMROCK reflects on two winners from three tips at Leopardstown on Sunday.
Sadly today’s meeting at Tramore has been cancelled for the second successive day due to heavy overnight rain.
A statement issued by the Turf Club read: “Following a course inspection at Tramore this morning, the course was found to be unfit for racing.
“As a consequence, the fixture scheduled for today, Monday, April 11, has been cancelled.”
TWO OUT OF THREE WITH THE TIPS ON SUNDAY !!
SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: True Solitaire 2nd
LAY: Alice Springs WINNING LAY 3rd 5/4
NEXT BEST: Harzand WON 2/1
True Solitaire was only beaten a head in a dramatic finish to the Leopardstown 2,000 Guineas Trial Stakes but bizarrely, given the margin, never really looked like winning.
Stable companion was given a lot of rope and still had a clear lead on the turn for home. Fleetingly, I thought True Solitaire might have nicked it but he seemed to take an age to fully wind up.
Harzand impressed in the mud when winning the Ballysax Stakes but is unlikely to head to Epsom. Winning jockey Pat Smullen said: “I think he is too big and heavy to round Epsom, maybe the Irish Derby [would be okay] but I think he has all the qualities for the Leger at Doncaster. The mile and six at Doncaster would be ideal.”
