GALWAY FESTIVAL: Day one of the 2018 Galway Festival and SHAMROCK’s nap runs in the handicap hurdle at 5.55pm.
Take a deep breath. Galway gets underway today with a seven race card starting at 5.20pm and the usual mix of flat and jumps action.
The Charles Byrnes trained Viking Hoard looks thrown in at the weights in the handicap hurdle at 5.55 and is my day one nap.
He’s nestled in right at the bottom of the weights and couldn’t have been more impressive at Killarney last time out when winning a handicap hurdle by 15 lengths.
He understandably gets a hefty rise in the weights but Kevin Brouder (who rode him at Killarney) can claim seven and I think the partnership can strike again.
One I’m afraid of is Kellyiscool who makes his handicap debut off what looks a good mark and was an eye-catching third at Tipperary last time out.
