DUBLIN RACING FESTIVAL: SHAMROCK’S Saturday NAP runs in the Frank Ward Solicitors Arkle Novice Chase at 3.45pm.

Absolutely stunning day of racing on the first day of the Dublin Racing Festival.

It’s like opening a box of chocolates and not knowing where to start. Congratulations to Leopardstown for this meeting which, don’t forget, only started last season in its current brand and already looks a seasoned part of the racing calendar.

Four Grade 1’s on the Saturday card and my best bet comes in a fantastic renewal of the Frank Ward Solicitors Arkle Novice Chase at 3.45pm.

It’s a race where historically those who are prominent in the market have a good record. You have to go back to 2010 for the last double figured priced winner.

Joseph O’Brien has made incredible start to his training career on both codes and saddles two runners here Le Richebourg and Us And Them.

Le Richebourg will be many peoples idea of the winner given he just needs to repeat his course and distance success of December when he beat Us And Them comprehensively in the Racing Post Novice Chase which was also a Grade 1.

He also holds Voix Du Reve (3rd) and Mengli Khan (4th) on that form.

If there is an alternative it might well be the English raider Knocknanuss who looks a nice prospect for Gary Moore but looks too short in the market for one who needs to prove himself at this level.

At around 2.96 Le Richebourg is bigger than I expected for a horse that just needs an action replay from his last run.
