WE’RE BACK 76 days later and Irish racing makes a welcome resumption at Naas on Monday and it’s a good card too with two Listed races to look forward to.

A big welcome back to Irish racing at Naas this afternoon.

As racing plays catch up, we can also look forward to the Derrinstown Derby Trial and Fillies Trial at Leopardstown tomorrow and later in the week the Curragh takes centre stage with the delayed 2000 Guineas (Friday) and 1000 Guineas (Saturday).

Meanwhile – the ‘latest’ SHAMROCK NAP won – it was back in March – Bachasson winning at Clonmel at 4/6.

Hopefully the good work on the NAPS so far in 2020 (see stats below) will continue as racing resumes.

Now for Monday’s action.

It’s so tricky as we have no idea of how forward the stables are after the hiatus and one strategy might be to latch quickly on to the stables that show good form. And remember ‘good form’ isn’t always winning – look for placed horses that defy their odds for a stable that could be ahead of the game.

The only stable we know something about is Aidan O’Brien. He had seven runners at Newmarket and of course grabbed the headlines with Love winning the 1,000 Guineas and also had a couple of seconds.

Supporters of Sergei Prokofiev will take heart from that in the Listed Woodlands Stakes (5.35pm) but I fully expect the progressive Sceptical to continue where he left off on the all-weather.

The Denis Hogan trained runner has improved with each start at Dundalk and couldn’t have been more impressive last time when winning by six and a half lengths. That earned him the honour of Ireland’s top sprinter and we now just need to see if he can convert that ability to the turf.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Sceptical (5.35 Naas)

2020 NAPS: 26/55 +82.74 (to a 10 unit daily level stake)
