MATCH OVERVIEW:
It’s semi-finals day at the Caribbean Premier League and what a day we have in store! We start with the first playing the fourth position as Trinbago Knight Riders take on the Jamaica Tallawahs. Trinbago completed the league section of the tournament unbeaten and have really looked by far and away the strongest side of the tournament. They have made great use of home advantage, played conditions perfectly and have a strong squad who are in good form. Jamaica have their hands full!
Of course we have had two meetings between the sides in the league. Trinbago obviously won both given they are unbeaten! They kept Jamaica down to 135/8 and chased it down in 18.1 overs in the first meeting and then they set 184/4 batting first and won by 19 runs in the second meeting. Both games took place at this ground. The weak link for me is the Jamaica bowling which has been poor for most of the tournament – they again conceded too many runs against the Zouks at the weekend and with the excellent Trinbago batting that will be the difference today.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
We have had some weather worries in the early games so fingers crossed we don’t see it make a massive impact here. It would be a great shame to see a five over chase or something that would greatly favour one side. Hopefully we get the full 20 overs. We have only lost one game due to weather, so it’s just a case of keeping an eye on the radar.
Batting has been very tough throughout the tournament but the pitch did play better here at the weekend and I would expect better than usual batting conditions for the Playoffs. Fans love sixes and big runs so the groundsmen will be working towards this. That being said, the wickets have been very hard to score on so definitely watch the opening overs and assess the conditions. Trinbago have batted very well when batting first here, scoring 170+ plenty of times, no other side has done that.
RECOMMENDED BET:
I really like Trinbago for the win again. Jamaica were pretty poor in the tournament and although they were much better than Barbados and St Kitts, they were a level below the standard of Trinbago, Guyana and St Lucia. Of course things can go very well for them today – it’s T20 anything can happen. But I can only see a Trinbago win here and the 1.51 is worth backing. Trinbago have set some excellent scores here in early games and with the Jamaica bowling so weak, I can easily see the same thing happening again. Even allowing for a little under par batting, Trinbago also have the better bowling line-up and they can win this one comfortably.
The Edge Says:
Three points win Trinbago Knight Riders to beat Jamaica Tallawahs at 1.51 with BETDAQ Exchange.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
If Trinbago bat first I would want to be with them. They have posted some very big scores here batting first and have been impressive. Even if Jamaica took an early wicket I’d still fancy Trinbago to set a big score and they might be a very good trade if an early wicket goes. I’d want to be against the Jamaica bowling at most stages of the game; they have just given away too many runs.
In an ideal world, perhaps Jamaica could bat first and post a decent score and then Trinbago would chase it given their strong batting and Jamaica’s poor bowling. The only flaw in that plan could be Jamaica getting a decent score as the Trinbago bowling has looked the best in the competition. They were on fire again at the weekend bowling St Kitts out for just 77!
