FABULOUS BIG-RACE DOUBLE WITH SUPERNAP AND 50-POINT STRIKE: Daqman had played small stakes all week until yesterday’s bull’s-eye bet and supernap in two big races on the official first day of the Jumps at Chepstow. He won both, and both won impressively. Now he tries for the two big Saturday races of the day at Newmarket, including 32.0 and 47.0 BETDAQ bets in the Cesarewitch.

✔️ WON 4-6 McFABULOUS (supernap)
✔️ WON 6-1 THYME WHITE (win-50 bull’s-eye bet)

DE SOUSA PICKS 47.0 OUTSIDER

⭕ 3.35 Newmarket (Cesarewitch) Irish raiders could fight out the finish of the Cesarewitch at Newmarket this afternoon, with the race between old rivals.

That applies to their trainers Willie Mullins and Dermot Weld as well as to the horses themselves, Great White Shark and Dalton Highway, who were first and second in an amateurs’ handicap at the 2019 Galway Festival.

Jason Watson and Tom Marquand take over today, but the most interesting jockey booking is Silvestre De Sousa for outsider Cleonte. Needs to bounce back to his form of 2018-19, which included a marathon stayers’ race.

De Sousa returns to the ride, and is the only jockey in the race with a runner today who has already had more than one winner of the Cesarewitch. He was in top form with a treble at Newmarket yesterday.

1️⃣ Great White Shark: STATS: Great White Shark fits most of the stats criteria: age, distance, draw, trainer, rating.
See Thursday’s stats guide in Daqman. BETDAQ 9.2

2️⃣ Dalton Highway FORM: Has improved more than a stone since runner-up to Great White Shark at the 2019 Galway festival. Christmas Hurdle and Curragh Flat handicap back to back. Tom Marquand deserts Just Hubert for this ride.
See Thursday’s ABC and form guide in Daqman). BETDAQ 29.0

3️⃣ Cleonte: HIDDEN HORSE: Cleonte won the Ascot Stakes (2018) and the Queen Alexandra Stakes (Silvestre De Sousa 2019) and was second in the Group-2 Doncaster Cup to Stradivarius. BETDAQ 47.0

4️⃣ Alright Sunshine: HIDDEN HORSE: Dropped a few pounds after attempting a Group 3 and the Ebor. Great run last season and Jamie Spencer booked. BETDAQ 32.0

KYPRIOS CAN CLIP EAGLE WINGS

⭕ 1.45 Newmarket (Zetland Stakes) Two-year-olds must grow up and race over 1m 2f in this. Only a few go on to improve again, and in my opinion this is all too soon.

Kew Gardens is one of the exceptions, winning Queens Vase, Grand Prix de Paris and St Leger the following year after taking this for Aidan O’Brien, who is 2-3 in the race since then.

We can’t be sure that the Frankel good-ground winner Fabilis will act on the soft, but Lone Eagle enjoyed the mud at Goodwood and has probably improved past Recovery Run, who beat him a head on firm earlier on.

The O’Brien runner, Kyprios, beat nothing well on heavy on the debut, but they were laying Lone Eagle this morning – out to 4.6 and 4.8 in BETDAQ exchanges as I write – with Kyprios 3.8 and 3.9 favourite.

LEGAL TO BACK TWO IN A RACE

⭕ 2.00 York (Coral Rockingham Stakes) Legal Attack beat Shark Two One before that one won a valuable Sales race at the Curragh, and probably did even better when runner-up to top filly Plainchant – in a Group 3 at Chantilly last month.

But another filly attacks him today. William Haggas’s royal runner, Light Refrain, is a daughter of Frankel and her dam, Light Music, won an autumn Listed winner over seven furlongs on soft ground at Newbury five years ago.

She appeals at 7.1 to Legal Attack’s 3.6 this morning. They are wide enough apart – with little opposition to speak of – to back both, or you could back Light Refrain for a place to cover your win bet.

⭕ 2.35 York (Coral handicap) Johnny Drama, runner-up last year, is back for another go, but the race usually goes to three-year-olds (5-7).

The runner-up to Matthew Flinders at Doncaster in June reversed the placings on the soft at Sandown in August, so I’m wary of that one on the soft today.

When Kingbrook won the Old Rowley Cup yesterday he boosted Ilaraab, who had beaten him at Newbury, and the two-horse market (4.7 Ilaraab, 5.5 Matthew Flinders) leaves me no choice but to back Ilaarab.

RATINGS ARE OVER THE MOON

⭕ 2.55 Newmarket (Dewhurst Stakes) The great and the good have won this race, from Hyperion to Nijinsky and Mill Reef and, in this century, Frankel, New Approach and Dawn Approach.

I usually warn you off ante-post bets on the following year’s Guineas and Derby, based on the two-year-old tests, but the winner of this Dewhurst will have to be something special, such is the strength of the field.

1️⃣ Thunder Moon So impressed in the National Stakes at the Curragh over today’s trip that he has been rated 116, some 3lb higher than Alkumait, even though he beat only a 92 and a 106 into the places in Ireland.

The placed pair were subsequently hiked: Wembley and St Mark’s Basilica were both put up to 112. Pulled into the orbit of a comet?

The handicapper did not take into account the slow time of the race or that it developed into a sprint finish but the market says he was right (3.9 this morning in the BETDAQ orange, with Alkumait a big drifter out to 10.5).

2️⃣ Alkumait Worked like a dream for Marcus Tregoning at Whitsbury before taking the Mill Reef in some style, beating the favourite, Fivethousandandone who takes him on again.

The third horse had also finished third, within a couple of lengths or so of Campanelle, in the Prix Morny, but was no match for the Mill Reef duo. Alkumait is rated 113.

3️⃣ Chindit Completed his hat trick in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster, beating the favourite, Albasheer, and earning a 115 mark. The second and third in his previous win at Ascot have been placed in Group races since without winning.

Richard Hannon also runs, Etonian, who is 2-2, and has Tom Marquand in the plate, though Etonian is officially 6lb behind Chindit. The 16.0 offers could be big.

GULLIVER TRAVELS FOR A REPEAT

⭕ 3.10 York (Coral Sprint) Single-figure stalls have won six of the last seven of these, and Hey Jonesey, Mr Lupton, Staxton and Tranchee should pull them along down the far rail.

But high numbers racing down the centre of the track dominated yesterday’s sprint handicap here; result by stall 15, 13, 9, 14, 10, 16, 20.

Laugh A Minute (out of 11) ls poised to avenge a home defeat by Mr Lupton (stall 3), raiding for the Bold Lad Handicap at the Curragh. David Egan a good jockey booking. BETDAQ 27.0.

Gulliver who won this last year from gate 5 is now in the next door, 6, after slipping down the handicap. A bit of win and place at 24.0 on BETDAQ
