🇫🇷  MATCH POINT: Our tennis tipping column previews the French Open Men’s Final on Sunday between Novak Djokovic vs Rafael Nadal with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

A good result for the column yesterday with Iga Swiatek proving yet again her prodigious talent with a straight sets victory over Sofia Kenin to lift the title. The straight sets win was recommended alongside a separate win on Swiatek which means we are showing a profit of 1.9 points so far on the tournament. I’ll take that given I didn’t get off to the best start with the Kerber pick!

If there is a changing of the guard in the women’s game – they are not quite ready for that in the men’s as we are treated to another renewal of Novak Djokovic vs Rafael Nadal this afternoon in Paris.

It’s also another instalment of the GOAT (greatest of all time) race with Nadal bidding to join Federer on 20 Grand Slam wins and Djokovic bidding to close the gap on Nadal to two.

Given, of the trio, Federer at aged 39 is the one least likely to add to the tally, it’s still a race that very much remains up for grabs. Federer missed his date in Paris due to a knee injury.

A win this afternoon would give ‘King Of Clay’ Nadal a 13th win of the French Open – an event that Djokovic has only won once.

But the BETDAQ betting is much tighter than that statistic alone would suggest, favouring Nadal but it’s quite marginal and suggests a tight encounter could be in prospect.

The fact that Djokovic is in such good form this year (New York misdemeanour excluded), is also the top seed and has a career H2H record of 29 v 26 all stack up in favour of the Serb.

Nadal knows he has a job on. He said: “Without playing my best tennis, the situation [against Djokovic] is very difficult.

“I know that is a court that I have been playing well on for such a long time, so that helps.

“But at the same time, he has an amazing record here too, being in the final rounds almost every single time.

“He is one of the toughest opponents possible. But I am here to keep trying my best.

Some argue the switch to an October date favours Djokovic who himself said: “I think that could be a better chance for me, obviously the ball not bouncing as high over the shoulder as he likes it usually.

“Regardless of the conditions, he’s still there, he’s Rafa, he’s in the finals and we’re playing on clay.”

There are several outcomes I’m mulling over – straight sets wins or it going the distance. I can back all four options to make a profit on the BETDAQ SPORTSBOOK and hopefully end the Slam in front.
