20-1 CORAL SPRINT STRIKE AND A GREAT DAQMAN CESAREWITCH WIN: Daqman’s on his travels and there’s no stopping him. After a bull’s-eye win with Thyme White (WON 6-1) at Chepstow on Friday, he landed two more yesterday at York (Gulliver WON 20-1) and Newmarket (BETDAQ 9.2 Cesarewitch gamble) for 150 points from just three selected races. Now he goes to The Curragh and Limerick for another Cesarewitch and a Ladbrokes’ National today. His nap is at Newton Abbot.

✔️ WON 20-1 GULLIVER (Coral Sprint bull’s-eye bet)
✔️ WON 9-2 GREAT WHITE SHARK (Cesarewitch from BETDAQ 9.2 bull’s-eye)
✔️ WON 3-1 ILARAAB (nap, Coral handicap at York))

* Great White Shark (when 10-1) and Summer Moon (2nd 16-1) were first and third in Daqman’s ABC guide to the Cesarewitch (see Archive for Thursday)

NAPS HAT-TRICK AS DAQMAN GOES 429 POINTS AHEAD OF PRICEWISE: Daqman’s three Saturday winners put him 46-27 ahead of Pricewise of the Racing Post on winners and 429 points clear on 10-point level stakes per selection: +211.86 profit to -217.84 loss. Ilaraab landed him a hat-trick of naps:

✔️ WON 3-1 ILARAAB (Saturday nap)
✔️ WON 4-6 McFABULOUS (Friday supernap)
✔️ WON 11-10 UGO GREGORY (Thursday nap)

COOL KAAT THE CESAREWITCH VALUE

⭕ 3.40 The Curragh (Irish Cesarewitch) Willie Mullins gives himself two chances of a Cesarewitch double after Great White Shark’s sea-change victory in the Newmarket version yesterday in completing a stable hat-trick in the race.

Willie’s also won this Curragh contest three times in the last five years, none of them favourite, though his last winner, Royal Illusion, could be a gamble to do a repeat this afternoon: 4.5 on BETDAQ as I write.

The mare has had only two starts since last October’s victory, which was helped by the 7lb claim of Joey Sheridan, who can still claim 5lb this afternoon.

The 18-year-old Sheridan has just won an even longer marathon, the Prix du Cadran, French Gold Cup (2m 4f), on Princess Zoe for Tony Mullins, in which Joey’s stamina, too, was called on to win the day, driving out the grey mare to get up in the last few metres.

Willie also puts up Shane Foley on Kaatskill Nap, who hasn’t won on the Flat for four years but was gambled on at the Galway Festival like the good thing he proved to be, making all over 2m 5f in a maiden hurdle: BETDAQ 15.5 is value.

It’s also difficult to keep Foley out of the headlines. What better runners and riders could you hope to find than these two job horses in one race?

Run For Mary must come into it, as second to Princess Zoe in a 2m 1f handicap at the same Galway festival in July, when Great White Shark was only seventh.

Tony Martin’s regular benchmark in these races, Golden Spear, was third, but he had an off-day behind Royal Illusion in 2019.

Aidan O’Brien’s second-season gelding, Shoshone Warrior, could be anything, related to a Gimcrack winner and a two-miler chaser! The trainer won this with a three-year-old in 2010. But I find it hard to get away from the two Mullins contenders.

Verdict 1 Royal Illusion, 2 Run For Mary, 3 Kaatskill Nap

BACK 11.0 ROARING BULL’S-EYE BET

⭕ 4.00 Limerick (Ladbrokes Munster National) This can be a strong guide to the season ahead with Ladbrokes Trophy star Total Recall (2017) and Grand National hero Tiger Roll (2016) among its recent winners.

So we’re talking improvers, as confirmed by the stats, which suggest that you can put a line through the established handicappers, horses over the age of eight.

Moyhenna, Doctor Duffy and The West Awake were second, third and fourth in the Kerry National last month. Shanpallas (2014) had been third, Golden Kite (2010) unplaced, in that Listowel three-miler before winning this, but it’s not a strong guide.

Walk Away has been seen over fences only in beginners chases (0-3) and his only hurdles win was his maiden but he’s obviously held in high regard, having taken on the likes of Faugheen and Easy Game.

Aforementioned, impressive at Clonmel the last day, was second to Doctor Duffy in a beginners’ chase at Kilbeggan in August but, with Gavin Brouder’s claim, will be 27lb better off for nine lengths. That puts him clear of the Kerry National trio.

Aforementioned’s trainer, Gordon Elliottt, also runs Roaring Bull, Grade B winner last Christmas and still close up at today’s trip in the 3m 4f Punchestown Grand National Trial.

I’ve gone for Willie Mullins’ pair in the Irish Cesarewitch. Now I’m reckoning on Gordon Elliott’s duo for this Munster National: BETDAQ 9.8 Aforementioned, 11.0 Roaring Bull.

Verdict 1 Aforementioned, 2 Walk Away, 3 Roaring Bull

LEAFHOPPER CHALLENGE TO HAYLEY

⭕ 2.55 Goodwood Onassis and Hayley Turner are a formidable partnership. They won the Sandringham Stakes at Royal Ascot (soft) and followed up in a Listed like this one at Chantilly.

With Thanks has won twice on heavy ground and may progress over her stablemate Tomorrow’s Dream, who has scored only on a sound surface.

We have seen Leafhopper (by Dark Angel out of Layla Jamil) only on top of the ground but Layla Jamil’s best son, Birchwood, loved the soft.

The in-form Ralph Beckett team goes for a hat-trick in the race. This year’s contender, Elegant Light, has been quiet since transferring from France in June but was a winner over there on very soft and heavy for Heni-Alex Pantall.

Onassis has to be the pick on form but Leafhopper and Give Thanks appear to have scope for improvement. I took 8.0 BETDAQ Leafhopper win and place.

⭕ 3.25 Goodwood Seven wins out of nine in this for low numbers (5 maximum) and another lucky draw for The Lamplighter.

He landed his hat-trick from gate 2 from two winners of their previous starts when scoring at Goodwood in late September. He’s in the adjacent stall 3 today.

From the one stall is Love Powerful, who won on the soft at Haydock, which takes some doing, but was behind Mick Channon’s Indian Creek at Windsor (soft) in August.

Indian Creek (out of gate 4 today at BETDAQ 16.5) has failed to raise his game in higher class since but Channon is on a hat-trick here after two winners yesterday, including mugging my bet, Light Refrain, on the line at York.

I’d love to nutmeg you in return, Mick, but you’ve manage to sell a dummy to the handicapper with those high-flying attempts and, down in class again, and a couple of pounds lighter, Indian Creek could have the layers up the proverbial without a paddle, and make up for the Nastase ace.

⭕ 4.25 Goodwood Goshen is an ancient Egyptian town on the Nile delta. But punters of the horse of that name have been similarly up the creek in his last two starts

Unseated rider with the Triumph Hurdle ‘won’; odds-on last of six on the Flat at Haydock last month.

Trainer Gary Moore blames himself for travelling him all the way to Haydock and atrocious conditions. Now he ‘walks’ him to his local track, one of the quirkiest courses in the country, and with atrocious conditions forecast. It’s good to laugh, isn’t it!

NICHOLLS IN STORMING FORM..

⭕ 4.50 Newton Abbot Paul Nicholls has won 10 races in October already: five chases, four hurdles and a bumper.

Most intriguing of his five at Newton Abbot today is Stormy Ireland (4.50), who landed a hat-trick for Willie Mullins over hurdles last winter, and gets the 7lb mares allowance in her first chase today.

Better than even money on BETDAQ this morning and, since I’m tackling two big races and the Goodwood mud, I’m probably better to finish on a Stormy note that’s a winning one.
