FULHAM V WEST BROM
5.30pm What a fascinating evening for Monday Night Football this week! We have two very open markets on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as Fulham host West Brom and Leeds play Leicester later. We start the evening with a massive fixture. It’s so early in the season but without sounding dramatic, this is already a “six pointer.” Fulham currently sit in last place with only one point from six games while West Brom are only a couple of points ahead of them. Neither side have won a game yet, although West Brom have managed three draws from six games.
It’s clear to me that neither side are playing well. You might say their results reflect that, however their performances have very little positive about them. West Brom have collected three points, but they haven’t been creating the volume of chances to win games. They benefitted from some terrible errors from Chelsea, while the 0-0 and 1-1 draw against Brighton and Burnley were fair results. Fulham seem to be creating enough to score once in their games, but they seem very limited. I think we’ll have a low quality affair here with a 0-0 or 1-1 the most likely result. The draw is worth backing at 3.4.

- Fulham are unbeaten in their last nine league meetings with West Brom (W3 D6) since a 1-2 loss in the Premier League in October 2010. However, each of the last four meetings between the two sides has finished level.
- West Brom haven’t won away at Fulham in the league since October 1967 (2-1), drawing seven and losing nine of their 16 visits since then.
- This is the first Premier League meeting between Fulham and West Brom since the 2013-14 season – in both games that term, Fulham took the lead in the opening 30 minutes, and West Brom levelled the game in the final five minutes.
- Fulham have lost their last four Premier League home games, including the last match of the 2018-19 campaign, they haven’t tasted defeat in five successive PL games at Craven Cottage since August 2013. The Cottagers are also hoping to avoid being the 12th side to lose their opening four English top-flight home games of a campaign.
- Fulham have made their worst ever start to a top-flight season after the first six games (D1 L5), while their worst performance after the first seven games was during the 1951-52 campaign (D2 L5), when they finished bottom of the table.
- West Brom are one of four teams yet to pick up a victory in the Premier League this season alongside Fulham, Burnley and Sheffield United. The Baggies last failed to win any of their first seven league games to a season in 2004-05 in the Premier League.
- Fulham have lost their last two Premier League games on Monday, failing to score a single goal. They last endured a longer losing run in the top-flight on Monday back in October 2004 (run of four).
- West Brom have won just one of their 14 Premier League away games played on a Monday (D6 L7), beating Liverpool 2-0 in February 2013.
- Of all managers to have taken charge of more than 15 matches, only Brian Laws (78% – 14 of 18) has a higher loss percentage in Premier League history than Fulham’s Scott Parker (75% – 12 of 16).
- Since the start of 2018-19, only two players currently aged 23 or under have scored more league goals in England’s top four tiers than Karlan Grant, who has 38 goals in this period (Jarrod Bowen 42 & Tammy Abraham 41). Indeed, Grant’s next strike will be his 50th in league competition.
LEEDS V LEICESTER
8pm A fascinating fixture. Leeds have adjusted to life in the Premier League very well, and this should give us an idea on how far they can go. That being said, they managed a draw with Man City here recently and looking at the xG figures you could say that they were unlucky with only a draw! Of course, Championship fans know how good Leeds are and what brilliant football they play. Premier League fans are seeing that now, and if they can keep creating the same kind of chances they should be able to finish in the top half, and then push for a Top Six finish next season.
Leicester have had a very up and down season already! They’ve beaten Man City 5-2 and then lost 3-0 to West Ham and 1-0 to Aston Villa. They have got back on track in the Europa League and a 1-0 win over Arsenal to set up this fixture perfectly. I have a lot of respect for Leeds because their xG numbers are impressive, but I still feel that they are a little short at 2.6 here. I think this will be a good, and even game, so naturally the draw catches my eye at 3.65. That looks cracking value in what should be a very close game.

- This is the first Premier League meeting between Leeds and Leicester since April 2004, with Leeds winning 3-2 at Elland Road in a season that saw both sides relegated.
- Leicester have lost just two of their last 13 league meetings with Leeds (W5 D6), with this the first such meeting between the sides since a 1-0 win for the Foxes in January 2014.
- Leicester have won five of their last eight away league games against Leeds (D1 L2), more than they had in their previous 37 visits to Elland Road (W4 D9 L24).
- Leicester have never won away from home in the Premier League in games played on Monday (D3 L9), with this their first such game since a 0-1 loss to Man City in May 2019.
- Leeds United have won 15 of their last 20 league matches (D2 L3) and only Liverpool (66) and Manchester City (60) have won more league matches in England’s top four tiers than the Whites since Marcelo Bielsa took charge in August 2018 (57).
- Leicester City will be looking to win five of their first seven games to a top-flight season for the first time in their history.
- Since Brendan Rodgers took charge of his first Leicester City game in March 2019, only Liverpool (45) and Manchester City (37) have won more Premier League games than the Foxes (27), while their points total in this period (91) is bettered by just three sides (Liverpool 140, Man City 116, Chelsea 94).
- Leeds have scored 12 goals in the Premier League this season, the most by a newly promoted team since Middlesbrough in 1992-93 (also 12). The Whites have scored 3+ goals in three of their first six games (against Liverpool, Fulham and Aston Villa), the first newly promoted team to do that since Luton Town in 1982-83.
- Leeds striker Patrick Bamford has scored six goals in his first six league matches this season, the first Whites player to score as many as six goals in the club’s first six league games of a season since Jermaine Beckford in 2008-09, and the first to do so in a top-flight season since Eric Cantona in 1992-93.
- Leicester striker Jamie Vardy has scored 12 goals in his last 15 Premier League appearances against newly promoted teams, including nine goals in his last seven such matches.
