WHEN ALL IS SED AND DONE..

⚠️ HEADS UP The one-two in a 7f nursery at Doncaster are back for more today but in separate races: Modern Games (remains at 7f in the 2.45 race) comfortably beat Sed Maarib (Bastogne fourth).

⭕ 1.35 Newmarket Sed Maarib, who went clear at Beverley in July, takes on multiple winners in Noisy Night and Choirmaster, now stepped up to a mile. He is related down the female line to a Derby winner, Lammtara.

Noisy Night is up two grades and 6lb, switched from his Kempton AW hat-trick to turf, and Choirmaster also tries to make the same transition from lower class at Kempton.

Desert Angel got off the mark with blinkers applied but they have to work again, and Sed Maarib seems best placed to score.

BETDAQ value 4.6 Sed Maarib

LADY BACK TO LAND REVENGE

⭕ 2.10 Newmarket The favourite has twice been beaten in this fillies’ handicap by sneaky little lightweights off 8st 2lb and 8st 8lb in the two runnings of the race.

It’s on the cards that something similar might happen again, since the favourite in each case was the very same Gale Force Maya who is topweight again today after beating Zim Baby (third) at Pontefract last week..

Andrew Balding, who won the first running of the race with Chil Chil in 2019, went close to doing the double last year when Quickstep Lady was beaten only a head, giving weight to the winner.

Quickstep Lady is also back for more, better off at the weights with same old same old Gale Force Maya, who was third.

Lovely Breeze had good form on all sorts of ground in the summer and, at her age, can improve after time off, but I’m marking the card of Quickstep Lady.

BETDAQ value 7.6 Quickstep Lady

TRIDENT A SUPERNAP RAIDER

⭕ 2.45 Newmarket (Somerville Tattersalls Stakes) This Group 3 for two-year-old colts and geldings didn’t quite make my top-juveniles list as a provider of stars.

I can think of only one recently: the 2017 winner, Elarqam, who is the fourth highest rated horse by Frankel (after Cracksman, Adayar and Hurricane Lane). Guineas fourth off 112.

Modern Games would be boosted for today’s renewal if his Doncaster runner-up Sed Maarib won the nursery on this card at 1.35.

Harrow won the £200,000 sales race at the Doncaster St Leger meeting, so landing a hat-trick but Trident represents Group 1, second to Perfect Power in the Prix Morny.

That Deauville form has delighted Andre Fabre, who sends Trident over with what would surely be top-rating here after the Morny, for which I had Perfect Power on 115 in my survey earlier in the week.

That would surely put Trident well ahead of Modern Games (101) and Ribhi, who is also on 101, though I can’t see why; he was unlucky at Doncaster but, if the handicapper is going to award poundage to an unlucky horse, then we all resort to guesswork.

BETDAQ value 2.54 Trident

MAX EFFORT NEEDED BY VEGA

⭕ 3.20 Newmarket (Rose Bowl) Favourites have won this five times in eight years but it’s two years since Max Vega won a race and Nayef Road has scored just the once in that time.

However, both represent Group class, with Nayef Road taking on Stradivarius four times and also being beaten by Trueshan and Subjectivist, the cream of stayers.

Max Vega won a Group 3 here on the soft as a two-year-old but has seen the 110 he was awarded for that get whittled down with dual defeats by Hukum, and a long stretch behind Trueshan in the champion-stayers test last October.

He was prepared for the Ebor and didn’t get much luck in running, fifth behind Sonnyboyliston. Maybe today he gets a lift to his light career, with Ralph Beckett and Hector Crouch in fine form yesterday through Victory Chime.

BETDAQ value 4.0 Max Vega

MAGNUS READY TO MAKE ALL

⭕ 4.30 Newmarket A low draw seems essential here, with eight out of 10 winners in stalls 1-to-5. Favourites coming out of stalls 7, 8 (two), 9 (three), and 11 have all finished out of the frame.

Shouldering (from the one stall today) has won only his maiden, always a bad sign; Caulk Kat probably needs rain; cheekpieces didn’t halt a long losing run for Giun palace.

So I’m taking the very lightly raced Carolus Magnus, who drops a grade and, on known form, could be a back and lay. He made all here in April.

BETDAQ value 5.7 Carolus Magnus

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
