Beth Mead has been one of the fundamental driving forces behind England’s progress so far in the Women’s Euros and played her part as the Lionesses beat Spain to book a place in the semi-finals.
Her heroics haven’t just been in an England shirt, though. The Whitby-born winger asserted herself as one of the best forwards in the highly competitive Women’s Super League last season, scoring 11 goals and registering eight assists in only 22 appearances.
Announcing herself on the international stage for the first time, Mead helped guide England to an almost flawless UEFA Women’s Euro qualification, scoring an awe-inspiring 12 times while notching ten assists in just eight matches.
Mead finished second in the WSL in 2022 with Arsenal and, with the Lionesses, won the Arnold Clark Cup. Now keenly waiting to feature in the UEFA Women’s Euro semi-final and gearing up for another competitive season with Arsenal, it surely won’t be long until she adds some more silverware to her cabinet.
Scoring a hat-trick against high-quality opposition Norway, she has a tally of five goals which is already the second most ever scored in a single Women’s Euros tournament and still with the two most important games to play, she’ll be looking to add to that.
Now with a record of 29 goals in her 43 appearances for England, she seems destined to make it to 30 on one of the greatest stages of all. It won’t take much after that to write herself into the history books as an England legend for years to come, and playing in the form she is in, she must feel optimistic of her chances of getting there sooner rather than later.
