DAQMAN WINNING NAP WAS 3.8 ON BETDAQ: Take early BETDAQ offers when you can. That was the message of a big-value Daqman double yesterday, both better for the bettor on the exchange at the time of going to print, and including an easy victory for his nap.
Friday profit on the day:18 points
WON 15-8 MALAKAHNA (nap) from 3.8 on BETDAQ
WON 4-6 SOUL ICON from 2.3 odds against on BETDAQ
ARC WEEKEND: HE LEADS PRICEWISE 49-37: Daqman’s bets in France and England today are all governed by the prospect of soft ground. He has outsiders at 13.5, 17.5, 19.0, 19.5 and 37.0, and leads Pricewise 49-37 in their value hunt.

OWNERS GIVE SOUMILLON THE ELBOW
⭕ 12.23 Longchamp (Prix Chaudenay) Christophe Soumillon, banned for two months from October 14, has a big shout for Dermot Weld in this Arc–weekend opener with Duke De Sessa, if he can stay the 1m 7f.
Soumillon will be anxious for some hefty riding fees before the unscheduled ‘holiday’, after elbowing English rider Rossa Ryan out of the saddle during a race at Saint-Cloud on Thursday.
He rides French Derby winner Vadeni in tomorrow’s Arc but has almost certainly given the French jockey’s title to Maxime Guyon, who is 21 winners clear and rides Sober in this.
And owners of Malavath, his mount in the Foret tomorrow, have asked that Soumillon should stand down or be made to do so by France Galop. Jockey Joffre Mora was banned for life last month for pushing another rider off his horse in the Ecuador Derby.
Duke De Sessa bounced back as soon as the ground eased in Ireland, winning a Group 3 over 1m 4f and taking his form on soft to 2-2. He wears a hood for the first time to keep him calm and help him get the trip.
The main home hope, La Mehana, has already scored at 1m 6f (beating Sober). She is on the upgrade and her pedigree says she’ll be ok with the distance.
There’s no such signpost in the breeding of Al Qareem and his Group-race form, including fourth in the Queens Vase at Royal Ascot, has all been on firm ground.
Betdaq Betting Exchange 2.64 Duke De Sessa, 3.15 La Mehana
DICKINSON REAL DEAL IN THE MUD
⭕ 1.33 Longchamp (Prix Royallieu) Verry Elleegant, who would race off 123 in England, was knocked out of tomorrow’s Arc by the French decision to mark her down to just 113, despite her 11 Group-1 wins in Australia, five of them on a deep surface and including last year’s Melbourne Cup, the Turnbull Stakes, Australian Oaks and Caulfield Cup.
She has not inspired since joining Francis-Henri Graffard in France and is seven years old now. That’s giving three years to Sea La Rosa and four years and 7lb to Emily Dickinson!
Sea La Rosa was beaten in her sole start on soft going (the Lancashire Oaks) and has been winning only at Group 2 and 3 level, though that may often equate to Group 1 in Australia and Bahrain.
I put Emily Dickinson in front of Sea La Rosa on her length-or-so third to that one at Goodwood on firm. She lacked the toe again when fifth in the St Leger but stayed on well and today’s trip in a deep surface is her best chance yet.
BETDAQ value 5.7 Emily Dickinson
⭕ 2.50 Longchamp Faithful Ballydoyle fans will be on tenterhooks if the oh-so-green Denmark sticks his tongue out and defies Ryan Moore as he did when he won at Naas, finally unshipping him after the line.
But he’s a two-year-old who just had to have another run this year to see if the 61 days’ holiday has his head sorted out and he’s growing up mentally into a real racehorse.
David Menuisier had already won this juveniles test and his filly Munch slammed a subsequent easy Listed winner on the soft at Goodwood.
BETDAQ value 3.75 Denmark, 5.5 Munch
GROUND WORRIES ABOUT KYPRIOS
⭕ 3.25 Longchamp (Prix Du Cadran) This French Gold Cup doesn’t have the field of his finest performances but will be the biggest test of Kyprios’ kudos since his race-of-the-year defeat of Stradivarius and Trueshan at Goodwood and subsequent drop back in trip to take the Irish St Leger. The red flag is the ground.
Kyprios has failed to reach the frame in two runs on the soft since his debut and, though Quickthorn won a Royal Ascot handicap on heavy, he struggled in the Longchamp mud, only ninth in the Prix Royal Oak last October.
So it’s a hard race to bet in until we’ve seen the earlier heats and know what the French ’very soft’ means today.
Princess Zoe, who won the Cadran on heavy back in 2020, beat Quickthorn a head in the Sagaro Stakes this Spring, and Skazino, who has won three stayers’ Group-2 events, was well backed with bookies this morning but 19.0 on BETDAQ.
FORTUNE COOKIE: 1.94 Kyprios, 19.0 Skazino
CRYSTAL HAS A BALL ON THE SOFT
⭕ 1.31 Newmarket After Crystal Estrella won on the soft in the Spring, it was always the plan to give her time to develop and come back on autumn ground. The stalls are on the far side, so seems is sure to tuck in from gate 12.
In the low numbers, Irish raider Dha Leath (gate 2) was running on, fourth, in a slow-run big-field race over today’s trip at the Curragh and should finish well.
BETDAQ value 13.5 Crystal Estrella, 17.5 Dha Leath
⭕ 1.51 Ascot Another Spring winner who now gets his conditions again, King’s Lynn, was Group-3 placed last autumn.
Four times course winner, two of them on the soft and including this race last year, Tis Marvellous, is on the short list, along with Ebro River, back to form at this level in July but no chance in Group 1 the last day.
BETDAQ value 5.8 Kings Lynn
⭕ 2.06 Newmarket A pinstickers’ race, likely to break up into three groups and with high numbers best at the last meeting.
Marcus Tregoning professes to being excited about Skysail, mature for his age and ‘with a big future.’ From a family that goes on the soft.
The progeny of Indiana Be’s sire has a 50% record on soft ground, and Jamie Spencer is a master of the art of winning off a pace, weaving through a crowd.
BETDAQ value 8 Skysail, 37 Indiana Be
⭕ 3.36 Ascot Symbolize, who will like the conditions, was second in this last year, unlucky to run into Aldaary, who went on to win the Balmoral on the same course later in the month, and is due to return in the British Champions Mile (Group 1) after completing his hat-trick in the Spring.
BETDAQ value 8.1 Symbolize
PLAY IT STRAIGHT WITH 19.5 CASSY
⭕ 3.57 Redcar (Straight Mile Final) Stalls 1 to 7 have won six out of the last seven, with just one winner older than five. Tim Easterby is 5 out of 6.
Tim saddles eight-year-old Give It Some Teddy, whose form in the race is 110, but he was only seventh last year to a stable companion, and could again give way to another from the yard, Cassy O, who has been one of the many Easterby horses out of form and now coming good (10 winners in the last fortnight).
The gelding has dropped 16lb since a good run in the Carlisle Bell after winning over this Redcar straight mile last June.
Stall 4 today and gets a stone from the likely favourite among the younger horses, Diamondonthehill, raised 12lb for two wins here in August.
BETDAQ value 19.5 Cassy O
