MONDAY LA LIGA: The Ultra previews Monday’s game between RAYO VALLECANO v ELCHE with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
RAYO VALLECANO V ELCHE
8pm Monday night football from Europe comes from La Liga on BETDAQ Betting Exchange this week as Rayo Vallecano host Elche. This is definitely not the most glamorous tie in Spain, but you do get the feeling this game will have a big impact on the relegation battle this season – early so early into the season. Elche have had a terrible start – they currently sit bottom of the table with only one point from their opening six games while Rayo Vallecano have been better with seven points from their six games, however their performances haven’t set the world on fire and they were lucky to pick up their two wins.
The home side come into the game as the odds on favourites, and I’m sure there will be plenty of layers around the 1.8 mark. They had a very strong start to the La Liga season last time, but their form fell off a cliff mid-way through the season and they finished poorly. It’s highly possible that they might have “second season syndrome” and it’ll be interesting to see how they get on over the next few weeks. You’d have to think that if they lose a fixture like this then they will be involved in the relegation battle.
The thing is, how good will Rayo Vallecano have to be to win here? Elche have been totally outplayed numerous times this season. Indeed, they recorded the lowest xG figure I’ve seen this season against Barcelona before the International break; it was 0.03! In fairness you can’t really judge a side like Elche facing Barcelona because there’s such a gulf in class between the sides. Anytime Elche have come up against a top six side they have been totally outclassed – they conceded an xG of 3.81 against Real Betis and then 4.42 against Villarreal. That’s not even mentioning the 5.24 against Barcelona!
It seems Elche will be a lot stronger at home this season compared to away, and it will be mainly their home form that keeps them up if they can indeed manage that. Away from home they seem to really struggle, and that leaves an excellent chance for Rayo Vallecano to win here. They did lose here to Mallorca earlier in the season however, and Mallorca will likely be in a relegation fight this season given where they finished last season – but in fairness they have made a positive start this time around.
I feel the best approach to this game is to keep stakes small. It’s really hard to make any case for Elche away from home because they just look average and there for the taking. Rayo Vallecano are clearly an average side, and I wouldn’t go crazy about backing them at odds on usually but they should win here. One point at the odds feels the correct stake.
The Ultra Says:
One point win Rayo Vallecano to beat Elche at 1.8 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
