Sunrisers Hyderabad v Lucknow Super Giants

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have a massive IPL game on Betdaq Betting Exchange in the race for the playoffs on Wednesday! Sunrisers Hyderabad host Lucknow Super Giants with both sides coming into the game with the exact same record. It looked like Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals are nailed on for the top two spots at this stage – they have played the best cricket in fairness – then we have these two sides along with Chennai Super Kings all on 12 points with 11 games played. Then you also have the likes of Delhi Capitals that could get into the mix with a very strong finish too.

While I wouldn’t go as far to call this a must win game for both sides, it’s definitely a massive game with a lot on the line. After this fixture, both sides will only have two fixtures left – for Sunrisers Hyderabad they have to play Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings while for Lucknow Super Giants they meet Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians. I would suggest those fixtures are on the earlier side – they could have faced KKR, CSK or Rajasthan for example! It has been interesting to see the scoring come down a little in recent games, and that could really work against Hyderabad. They lack quality spin in their line-up and if the wickets start getting slow and low could really hurt them.

Lucknow got a hammering at the weekend too losing by 98 runs to KKR. We have all thrown praises at KKR but that’s still a very heavy defeat – definitely a net run rate killer! While the batting collapsed, the damage was done when conceding 235/6. We have two sides here who bowled really poorly at the weekend – the key here could be who can turn things around quickly.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

The scores have come down dramatically over the last week at some IPL grounds. Up until then, and we did still see some 200+ scores at the weekend for example, backing overs was a no brainer! That’s changed now, but Hyderabad has been a pretty high scoring venue this season. The first inning scores here have been; 277/3 (won), 165/5 (chased), 206/7 (won) and 201/3 (won). That 201 last week could have easily been chased too, Hyderabad only won by one run in a dramatic final over. I would still lean towards batting first – if we have excellent batting conditions you get first use to put up a score, and if the wickets are slowing down it’s going to get more difficult to chase.

RECOMMENDED BET:

The big question heading into this game is about the wheels coming off the Sunrisers Hyderabad? Three losses from their last four games does ring alarm bells, and that could have easily been four from four if Rajasthan got six off the last three balls. Questions have also been asked about the lack of quality spin if the wickets start to turn. While Lucknow has a blow out against KKR, that KKR side has demolished plenty of sides in this IPL. When I look at this game I see two sides with flaws, and I expected to see a pretty 50/50 market. I was surprised to see Hyderabad such clear favourites, and I feel Lucknow are worth a small bet at 2.22 from a value point of view.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

It feels like you want to be against both sides with the ball in hand. I would just wait and see what batting conditions are like here in the opening overs, and if we still have the good batting conditions that we have had here all season then I’d be keen to support both batting sides really. The Lucknow bowling was poor last time out, and Hyderabad have batted very well here too. I am a little worried with the scores coming down a little as a general trend in the tournament, but I do feel it will pay to look for trades on the batters rather than the bowlers here.
