NOTTINGHAM FOREST V CRYSTAL PALACE

8pm We have Monday Night Football from the Premier League on BETDAQ Betting Exchange this week as Nottingham Forest host Crystal Palace. While this might not be the most glamorous fixture, we do have a very interesting market. It’s an open betting heat, and as you would expect Nottingham Forest are the favourites with home advantage. Nottingham Forest are trading 2.44 with Crystal Palace 3.25 and the draw is 3.45 at the time of writing. After finishing last season like a train and having so much optimism for this season, Crystal Palace have had a terrible start.

They’ve only managed three draws from their seven games, and that leaves them sitting in the relegation zone at the moment. When Oliver Glasner took over he had Palace playing some of the most impressive football in the Premier League – they had all the momentum at the end of last season, and they were one of the most popular bets each weekend for the final few weeks. Fast forward to now, and they seemingly can’t buy a win. Nottingham Forest are seven points ahead of them, and they are sitting pretty in mid-table safely away from the relegation zone. Given they’ve been so close to relegation, a mid-table season for Forest would be a fantastic season.

Although Palace are clearly struggling at the start of the season, there actually isn’t much between the sides when you look at their stats. They sit right beside each other in the xG table – Nottingham Forest have an average xG created of 1.35 with Crystal Palace just below that at 1.28. They are very close to each other in the xG conceded table too – Nottingham Forest have an average xG conceded of 1.39 with Crystal Palace just a little over that at 1.42. Both sides have struggled to score goals at the start of the season, but at the moment it’s Palace that have been massively under-performing in front of goal.

It’s pretty easy to see the way out of the relegation zone for Palace; they just need to start taking their chances. Forest games have been pretty quiet – apart from a 2-2 draw away to Brighton they have had Under 2.5 goals in the rest of their games. They have been ‘getting away’ with things at the back – they are conceding a lot less goals compared to their chances conceded. Palace games have had more goals, but Under 2.5 goals has collected in four of their seven games. It will be interesting to see what type of game we get here but it’s hard to see it being too open; both sides have been really struggling to score too. Under 2.5 goals is trading 1.77 and that looks a really good position in my opinion. However, I do feel we’ll see a very close game here and the draw makes the most appeal to me at 3.45. I’d have the match odds market even more open than it is!
