DON’T MISS NEXT WEEK’S NATIONALS: Daqman takes his pick of the Saturday at Haydock and Musselburgh today then it’s all about the big two Nationals next week.
⭐ MONDAY: Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse
Daqman last year: WON 13-2
⭐ SATURDAY: Liverpool Grand National
Daqman last year: first three in correct order
JONJO OUT OF THE RED
⭕ 2.12 Haydock (Pertemps 2m Hurdle Final) The negatives pile up. Several seem well exposed, reaching for blinkers, cheekpieces and tongue-tie for half a dozen finalists here.
Look for confidence behind them in the market, after adding to the list worries about Ice In The Veins and Tashan.
Following front-running strikes at Warwick and Kempton, Ice In The Veins flopped by a total of 57 lengths in two tries under restraint.
Similarly, after three wins out of four, Tashan – not ‘expected’ at 11-1, though ridden by Harry Cobden – bled from the nose behind Dance And Glance at Ascot in December.
Jonjo O’Neill, who landed a gamble in this with Zabeel Champion in 2022, prepped We’re Red And Blue for the classy Imperial Cup and wasn’t far wrong, third.
‘Red’ couldn’t catch Williethebuilder at Kempton in January but I see the Sandown run as progress, whereas Willie hasn’t built on the Kempton win and you have to trust his claimer with a 12st topweight. BETDAQ 6.2 taken.
SKY THE LIMIT FOR BLUE
⭕ 2.46 Haydock (Pertemps Stayers Hurdle Final) Young horses, lightly raced at six and seven, win this every time.
Dan Skelton (Blue Carpet) and his old guvnor Paul Nicholls (Jakar Du Moulin) have solid form and can take Walden, who went clear at Ascot in February but has shot up the ratings
GENOIS ANOTHER O’NEILL
⭕ 3.20 Haydock (Veterans Final) The stats, and plain commonsense, say that horses aged 10, only three months after they were of a single-figure age, have a big advantage, taking on these old boys.
Numitor, who won two veterans’ races last year, including this one, has pulled up three races in a row since then and is now 12.
Guard Your Dreams, at 10, beat Fugitif, Le Milos and Outlaw Peter 13 lengths and more at Warwick in February.
He hasn’t actually raced since because he was brought down in the Plate at Cheltenham.
But BETDAQ 9.6 offer Genois, another for Jonjo O’Neill, beat Outlaw Pete at Exeter (Numitor fourth after a wind op) and gets 16lb from Guard Your Dreams.
Filanderer scored four in a row up to last autumn but shrugged off a 30lb rise to win a heat of this series at Market Rasen, before failing to cope with Cheltenham in the Ultima.
BELL RINGS FOR DANCING
⭕ 3.05 Musselburgh (Queen’s Cup) Dan Skelton with a Flat-race favourite? I’m sure we’ll see more of that one day.
Gambino, was third to disgraced hurdler Constitution Hill over 1m 4f at Southwell, and that one boosted the form with a stroll around Kempton recently.
Moon Of Miami has been absent for nearly a year, and the yard that farms this race, Team Johnston, fields one (Baileys Khelstar) we haven’t seen for nearer two years.
My idea of a bet is Dancingwithmyself, with Oisin Murphy steering one home at Newcastle yesterday and trainer Michael Bell with form figures of 1011100 in five days’ racing over the last fortnight. Betdaq Betting Exchange 7.2.
MORE GOLDIE SUNSHINE
⭕ 3.42 Musselburgh (Scottish Sprint) Only once has a low stall won this; that was in 2022 when Zarzyni (from the one draw) switched right across the track when behind the field.
Otherwise a high berth (gates 8 to 15 have won seven out of eight) has been essential, which is a help to last year’s winning Jim Goldie stable, which now saddles CD-winner Eternal Sunshine out of 13.
Eternal Sunshine, who won the Portland in September, and had Tropical Storm back in 9th, is claimed off, back after a break, which is why he’s 11.0 in BETDAQ offers this morning.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
