NAVAN: Shamrock heads to Navan on Saturday for their jumps card and a LAY NAP !
It’s two naps out of four for me so far this week – a shame that the two that were beaten both ran shockers. Majestic Jasmine was well punted before the 7.00 at Dundalk last night but never got competitive. Still, with a 9/4 and 7/4 winning nap this week we are ahead of the game.
In the old days, prior to BETDAQ, I would have probably passed on a NAP today simply because nothing stands out on the Navan card.
But with the multitude of options now available to punters, not least of which pressing the green lay button, opportunties nearly always present themselves even if it’s taking something on with the same confidence as an ordinary NAP win selection.
A case in point today is Tasitiocht in the 3.05 at Navan. She looks too short for me at around 2.54 on the DAQ for a horse that fell on her hurdling debut at Gowran Park on Sunday when she came down at the fifth having made a mistake at the fourth.
Layers are never going to take too many chances on a Willie Mullins trained runner who showed ability in bumpers but we have a few running for us here (always important no matter how much you want to take one on) and there’s the added issue of the quick reappearance and mental scars from the fall that could both count against her.
