WEATHER WATCH: The rain continues to wreak havoc with the racing schedule. Latest news here.

Southwell’s AW course has been particularly badly affected with their meetings on Monday, Tuesday and now Wednesday cancelled, although discussions are under way to see if the fixture can be transferred.

Clerk of the course Roderick Duncan was forced to abandon Monday and Tuesday’s meetings at the venue due to a waterlogged track.

He reports conditions to be worse on Monday morning so Wednesday’s card cannot be run at the Nottinghamshire course, although they are hoping to switch the meeting to Wolverhampton.

He said: “I would say it’s worse here this morning, we have water through some of the buildings and on the track.

“We won’t be racing here on Wednesday but the meeting is not abandoned yet as there are discussions about transferring the card.”

Tuesday’s meeting at Sedgefield has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.

Clerk of the course Phil Tuck was forced to call an 8.30am inspection with areas of standing water on the track and more rain forecast.

He said: “We have abandoned. It’s still raining now and there are patches of standing water on the track.”

Lingfield will hold a second precautionary inspection at 2pm ahead of Tuesday’s National Hunt meeting.

Clerk of the course Neil Mackenzie Ross took an initial look at 8am and found the track to be heavy but raceable.

However, further rain is forecast today so he will assess conditions again this afternoon.

Wednesday’s meeting at Fontwell has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.

Clerk of the course Ed Arkell had planned a 3pm inspection for Monday but a reported 20 millimetres of rain in the last 24 hours has taken its toll.

Arkell said: “We’ve made an early decision as there is no point delaying the inevitable. We now have standing water and it’s pouring with rain.

“We’ve had 81 millimetres of rain since last Wednesday and that’s a metre since April.

“Our next meeting is on December 11, so hopefully things improve between now and then.”

Wetherby has also been abandoned on Wednesday.
