Great card at Wimbledon for a Tuesday night full of quality, great sprint at 8.34, Derby pointers a plenty in the 9.19 and Blonde Reagan, the Leger and TV Trophy winner 2012, in the 9.04 (could be a lay).
I am going to concentrate on Div 2 of the sprint which is the 7.34, we will know our fate early folks. I think runners are thin on the ground in this race.
Trap 1 – Sundance Jet has had 60 career starts but all his victories have come over four bends, he is 0 from 2 in sprints.
For me early pace four bend dogs don’t cut it when dropping back in trip. 3 from 14 in Trap 1, time to look elsewhere.
Trap 4 Cloheena Micky has to overcome an absence having not run since the end of November when competing over 515 at Hove. He used to grade here in 480 company. He is 2 from 8 in sprints(Hove)and would appear to be held by 2 and 3.
Trap 5 Mountjoy Hawk 60 starts, numerous trainers and again a four bend dog dropping back in trip. 1 from 6 in sprints (Yarmouth). Now 10 without a win and no Wimbledon form, put a line through.
Trap 6 King Scotty appears third in but has had a few trainers and it’s not a great sign leaving Liz McNair. 1 win from 10 runs with new trainer, inconsistent at the traps but did win a Wimbledon sprint in 2011 but looks held on crossover form with 2 and 3.
My selections in the race are Traps 2 and 3.
They set the standard and are closly matched on Hove form.
Trap 2 Comeragh King is 5 from 13 in sprints and has mixed it with the best.
I slightly fancy her over Trap 3 Murlens Crash who also has decent sprint form. On the 21st Feb T2 beat T3 4 lengths, making all and spread-eagling the field at Hove. Then on the 7th March T3 beat T2 by 3 1/2 lengths, its heads and tails with these and I cant imagine both of them missing the beat.
