After a brilliant fifth-place finish last season, it’s not an understatement to say Newcastle have been extremely disappointing this term. They are only six points clear of the relegation zone but can stretch further away and practically guarantee their Premier League status with a win over Liverpool in the late kick-off today.
Liverpool have found themselves in the midst of controversy yet again with Luis Suarez once more at the centre of it. His bite on Branislav Ivanovic last Sunday means he will miss this fixture as part of a ten-match ban and, coupled with fitness doubts over captain Steven Gerrard, means the Reds might struggle today for goals and leadership.
The Magpies have won their last two at home to Liverpool and will be desperate to give their fans something to cheer about after the demoralising 3-0 defeat to Sunderland last time they played at St James’ Park.
Brendan Rodgers’ visitors have been more miss than hit this season and have only won five on the road. Once again they look opposable at around 2.55 on BETDAQ and the hosts look the value call.
