SHAMROCK’S OFF TO THE SEASIDE: For the annual meeting on the sands at Laytown. The six race card starts at 4.20pm – when the tide is out !!

It’s the 146th running of the Laytown Strand Races today where racing started in 1868.

Situated just 29 miles of Dublin, Laytown is a unique and welcome part of the racing fixture list and in terms of punting – course experience is hugely advantageous.

Problem is though – there isn’t much course experience given they only race once a year !!

Finding one course and distance winner on the card is hard enough – but we have an even rarer commodity today. A DOUBLE course and distance winner in Mt Weather (6.30 race) who has won this race twice before and has also run well on all his other appearances at Laytown. Now a ten-year-old, he is racing here off a mark 1lb lower than last year, having not shown too much this season but he comes alight here and looks a very tempting win and place bet at close to double figures on the BETDAQ win market.
