It’s FA Cup time again as we head into the weekend with 16 clubs remaining and it’s Tottenham that lead the betting in the outright market at 4.3. Chelsea kick things off when they welcome Birmingham to Stamford Bridge tomorrow.

Andre Villas-Boas’ first season in English football is threatening to become a complete disaster and the FA Cup now represents Chelsea’s best chance of silverware.

Chris Hughton has done wonders at Birmingham since a slow start to the season and Blues are now right in the mix for an automatic promotion place. Blues’ away form, although solid, has not been at the same level as it has at St Andrews and they also have a poor record at Stamford Bridge. All the pressure is on the hosts, so Birmingham can have a real go at Chelsea knowing that promotion is most important. Expect Villas-Boas to take no chances with his starting XI and it should be a comfortable afternoon for Chelsea.

Sunderland were seconds away from holding Arsenal to a point last Saturday and that was after midweek extra-time to edge out Middlesbrough. This time the shoe is on the other foot as the Gunners were in Italy on Wednesday evening. The 4-0 defeat and poor performance at the San Siro further underlines the problems Arsenal have at the back.

Martin O’Neill has given Sunderland a huge lift and they have the talent to cause an upset at the Stadium of Light.

Crawley Town are the lowest ranked side left in the competition and they have an intriguing matchup with Stoke on Sunday. The League Two club are fifth in the table and have cruised through to the fifth round without conceding a goal.

I was at the Britannia for Stoke’s game against Gillingham and their attitude when playing a lower league club really impressed me. Tony Pulis did magnificently to get the Potters to last year’s final and the club have an affinity with the famous competition. Crawley will not have had to deal with the aerial bombardment that Stoke offer and I’m not sure they’ll be able to cope. At around 2.11 Stoke are a good price to reach the last eight for the second year running.

Stevenage welcome Tottenham later on Sunday and I don’t see any problems for Harry Redknapp. The only debate is whether it’s going to be four, five or six nil. Even if Spurs choose to rest players, their squad is full of attacking talent and they should easily get through.
