It’s Bonfire night on Saturday and here’s hoping we get plenty of fireworks over the Premier League weekend. Manchester City continue to light up the league and they have an opportunity to extend their run when they visit Loftus Road for the late Saturday kick-off.
Roberto Mancini’s lot scored another three goals at the weekend to take their season tally to a staggering 36 goals already. While QPR were well beaten at White Hart Lane last Sunday, but before that they scraped past Chelsea at home. Rangers were a little lucky to beat the Blues, even when the visitors were reduced to nine men.
The John Terry situation is still hanging over the club and that makes life difficult for Neil Warnock, who already has enough on his plate. City have emerged as genuine title contenders and they will be far too strong for QPR.
Sunday’s lunchtime kick off between Wolves and Wigan is a massive game for both clubs. Both are on dire form and in serious need of three points. Wolves showed signs of improvement at the Etihad Stadium last weekend as they gave it a go against the league leaders. Whoever wins this one will get a huge boost heading into the next few weeks and with the game at Molineux, I fancy Wolves to edge it.
Dave Whelan has quite rightly given Roberto Martinez a vote of confidence and that will take some of the pressure off the Spaniard. That all means that Wigan might just go for it and put Wolves on the back foot. They have less to lose as the away side, which should make for a cracking match.
The final game of weekend is at Craven Cottage where Fulham welcome Tottenham. Spurs are in great form and have really turned things around following a tough start to the season.
Harry Redknapp’s side are great to watch, especially with Luka Modric and Rafael Van der Vaart pulling the strings from midfield. Fulham just haven’t been able to put a run together at home in the league and I feel clubs no longer have the same fear of playing at the Cottage.
Spurs are full of confidence and look as good as Chelsea and Man United at the minute. At 2.33 they are a good price to win their fourth on the spin.
