THE SATURDAY OF FOUR CUP RACES: Four Cup races today to take the value from amazing BETDAQ offers: the Bunbury Cup handicap and the Group -1 July Cup at Newmarket, the John Smiths Cup handicap and the Group-3 Silver Cup at York.

ONE-TWO THUNDER CLAPS
⭕ 2.50 Newmarket (Bunbury Cup) LAYS LOGIC: Favourites 0-10. STATS: Age: 4, 5, 6yo. DRAW: Double-figure stall 8-10.
Aalto went clear in this last year but the race included seven older horses (one this year) and will be a faster and closer contest today.
More Thunder, Ten Pounds, Aalto, Akkadian Thunder, Billyjoh, Myal, Run Boy Run and Ebt’s Guard ran on successive days at Royal Ascot.
Wokingham placed More Thunder and Ten Pounds are up a furlong here, which will suit them both.
Akkadian Thunder was runner-up from nearside gate 29 in the Buckingham Palace Stakes when Run Boy Run (out of 2) led the far side.
Run Boy Run, narrowly beaten by More Thunder at Newmarket in May and now 3lb better off, is the equal of Aramram who had been a length off More Thunder in April.
All of a heap, aren’t they, but Akkadian Thunder (12) and More Thunder (13) may have the best of the draw and are both due to go up 3lb in the handicap. Akkadian wins more: BETDAQ 5.4
STALLS HOLD 40.0 SECRET
⭕ 3.10 York (John Smiths Cup) STATS: Stalls 1 (twice), 2, 3, 6, 7 have won six of the last seven. No favourite has won and no three-year-old though not many try, like lone second-season contender Archivist today.
When all three were low drawn, Thunder Run finished well clear of Austrian Theory and Brioni in a similar race here in May,
Austrian Theory has the edge at the weights and on the draw today but can’t beat See That Storm on their trial for this at York a month ago. Due to go up 2lb. BETDAQ 8.2.
You must also take out of that race Have Secret, who got across early and led a furlong out from a high draw (13) but now has an easier life out of 5. BETDAQ 40.0.
After scoring on the Rowley Mile, Fox Legacy was beaten less than four lengths, battling down the centre when near and far side won the divide at Ascot. BETDAQ 15.5.
Stall 19 so now must drop back or get across early, along with Thunder Run and company.
⭕ 3.45 York (Silver Cup) Al Qareem completed a Listed double here at York last month but Subsequent, who had Tabletalk well behind at Ascot in the autumn, has been brought back for another late campaign: this would set him up for the Ebor. BETDAQ 14.5
APPLEBY HITS NOTABLE SIX
⭕ 4.35 Newmarket (July Cup) Charlie Appleby’s six-hit of winners in the first two days will have the betting public rooting for 2024 Guineas and Sussex Stakes scorer, Notable Speech.
Sure to be short on value for one who has never won – in fact, never raced – over any distance other than a mile.
He pulled hard, a disappointing fourth, in the Queen Anne and they said ‘maybe 7f next.’
Six is certainly a gamble, as trainer Appleby acknowledges: ‘Even if you think he is fast enough, you don’t know until he’s put to the test in a race.’
He will probably try to make all from stall 4, alongside Whistlejacket (2) and Flora Of Bermuda (5) among 14 distance winners in a poor race for favourites, with high numbers best.
Flora Of Bermuda’s Clipper Stakes conqueror, Inisherin (cheekpieces first time), is well drawn in 13.
Also in a double-figure box is Believing but five-year-olds don’t win this and Notable Speech’s main danger may be stablemate Symbol of Honour, with Oisin Murphy challenging William Buick on the favourite.
