BETDAQ INSIDER: Tennis proved to be the sport worth talking about last week on the exchange as a number of significant trades took place on both the men’s and women’s game.
The Headliners
A draw in Ligue 1 cost one customer big whilst Federici’s win at Sedgefield would’ve definitely caught the eye.
XSP Value
The weekend’s racing is where you could’ve found the best XSP value over the past seven days with notable winners on Saturday and Sunday. At Kelso on Saturday, Article Fifty won the 4:32 trained by George Bewley and ridden by Jonathan Bewley at an SP of 9/1. One backer took the XSP of 10.47 and enjoyed a win of nearly £500 from their (rather fitting) £50 stake. The following day at Sedgefield, the 33/1 shot Federici finished strongly to win the 4:50 at an XSP of 46.50. A good win for the eleven year old which no doubt would’ve been celebrated by the Exchange player who staked £7 on the Donald McCain trained horse.
“Big Price” Watch
The eye-catching winner of the week came at Chelmsford City on Thursday in the final race of the day. Bird To Love stayed on well for Mark User and Isobel Francis to win at an SP of 25/1. One Betdaq customer fancied the chances of the six year old and backed the win at 55.55 on the exchange, winning just short of £330 in the process.
Elsewhere, at the Mexican Open on the ATP Tour, Taylor Fritz recovered from being pegged back in the second set to overcome the towering John Isner 6-3 in the third. A win for the unseeded American over his compatriot and fifth seed earned one punter winnings of £2,200 as they backed Fritz at 23.0 with a £100 stake.
Odds On Backers
Sticking with tennis, a number of odds on shots were backed only to be left disappointed over the course of last week. Britain’s Katie Boulter fought back strongly after conceding the first set to Francesca Di Lorenzo, to come out on top 2-6 6-3 6-2. This victory for Boulter, who sits more than 200 places below Di Lorenzo in the rankings, would’ve come as a surprise, especially on the Exchange. One customer no doubt envisaged a routine win after the opening set so was then surprised to see what unfolded, losing them £7851 after backing the Italian at 1.08.
A day previous, in the very same tournament, Anastasia Potapova won back-to-back sets to beat Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, who had been backed by someone on the exchange at 1.02. The stake of £3,000 was lost as Schmiedlova fell apart in the final set, crashing out 6-1.
