The Headliners
No surprise that horse racing and football dominate the top stories from the week that was on the Exchange, whilst close to £3m was traded on The Genesis Invitational, hosted by Tiger Woods.
XSP Value
In line with the unpredictable nature of the weather, a number of results in the horse racing world would have taken punters by surprise. None more so than on the all-weather at Kempton on Wednesday, when Intrepidly, trained by Peter Charalambous, won at an SP of 33/1 and XSP of 69.29, which was taken by one customer with a stake of £6, returning them over £400 in the process.
Another notable all-weather winner came at Newcastle on Tuesday as Zeshov won at an XSP of 14.84, earning one Betdaq punter a nice return of £2,831 from a £205 stake.
“Big Price” Watch
Leicester was the scene of a pair of eye-catching prices that would’ve made two Betdaq customers very happy. Vocaliser, who’s Dam’s Sire happens to be the great Rock of Gibraltar, was laid at 32.0 by one exchange player, which returned £2,826, as the Robin Dickin trained eight year old could only place. The winner of that very same race, This Breac, at an SP of 28/1, was successfully backed at a price of 33.94 on our Exchange, another example of the value available to savvy traders.
Odds On Backers
The ecstasy associated with backing an outsider at a big price is comparable to the despair that can come with being let down by an odds on shot, the latter of which was seen on the Exchange on Saturday. Ajla Tomlijanovic lost out to Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the Dubai Tennis Championship qualifiers, in a three set matchup that was the true meaning of a back & forth affair.
Mattek-Sands took the opening set 6-4, which was then cancelled out by Tomljanovic winning the second 6-3. The latter looked in pole position to get the victory, as she stormed into a 3-0 lead in the final set, which saw her backed to the tune of £5,000 at 1.03. However, an inspired Mattek-Sands battled back to 4-4, 5-5, and 6-6, before overcoming her Croatian opponent in the tiebreaker to flip the trade on it’s head.
