LINGFIELD CALLED OFF: The all-weather meeting didn’t do what it said on the tin when the card failed a second inspection on Sunday. It leaves a blank day in the UK but Punchestown keeps the show on the road in Ireland. Daqman has three bets from Punchestown including in the feature Moscow Flyer Grade 2.

PRINCE DAQMAN PROFIT AT 100-30: Daqman’s nap, Sovereign Sea, was beaten a short-head at 100-30 at Newcastle, the only surviving Friday meeting but he finished the day in profit with a 20-point hit from Oriental Prince (WON also 100–30).

ONLY NEWCASTLE SURVIVES TODAY: All bar Newcastle has been abandoned in England today. Kempton and Fairyhouse (‘unraceable’ today) were holding inspections for tomorrow.

THE BIG FREEZE: Goes on and on. Saturday’s racing looks like being decimated for the second week running. Warwick and Wetherby have already been called off. The big race card at Kempton featuring the Silviniaco Conti Chase and Lanzarote Hurdle is now also under threat with the course set to announce inspection plans at 1pm this afternoon.

LOW ENTRIES TARNISH GOLD CUP: It’s a day of double bad news for Jumps racing in England. Gold Cup entries are down to just 19 with a record low of only five home hopes. And the sport is wiped out until Saturday, barring one meeting today.

JUMPS LOST TODAY: BLEAK TOMORROW: Leicester and Hereford abandoned so just Wolverhampton AW left today and a morning inspection at Taunton tomorrow if we are to resume over jumps. The forecast is sleet!
