CARABAO CUP TUESDAY: We preview Tuesday’s Carabao Cup match between PORTSMOUTH v SOUTHAMPTON with a recommended BETDAQ bet and extended stats.
PORTSMOUTH V SOUTHAMPTON
7.45pm Sky have picked a very interesting Carabao Cup game as their TV game on Tuesday night! Can the League One side knock out the Premier League side? Current form would suggest not, as Portsmouth have been poor this season. They had a very promising campaign last season; but they have been under par and find themselves all the way down in 20th spot in League One.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Portsmouth 4.7, Southampton 1.81 and the draw is 4.0. Most Premier League clubs don’t really take this competition seriously, opting to play their second XI. It doesn’t make much sense for Southampton to do that though; they should be safe enough in the Premier League and a Cup run would be fantastic for the club. We expect a strong side.
Southampton look massive here at 1.81. Portsmouth just haven’t been good enough this season and Southampton are more than a few levels above them too. It might be a big clash for these two rivals, and sometimes form goes out the window in the Cup – but we can’t ignore this Southampton price. They have been their usual selves in the Premier League this season, grinding out some results and coming up short in others. They should have too much for this Portsmouth side who are in woeful form.
