CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WEDNESDAY: We preview Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg between ATLETICO MADRID and REAL MADRID with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

7.45pm After a superb Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick in the first leg, this tie looks as good as over. However, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t money to be made on the second leg markets and we have a very even match odds market here. The odds at the time of writing currently stand at; Atletico Madrid 2.76, Real Madrid 2.72 and the draw is 3.7.
Both sides had wins at the weekend in La Liga, with Atletico winning 1-0 against Eibar and Real running out easy 4-0 winners against Granada. Ronaldo was rested for that 4-0 win too, and with him in excellent form at the moment who is to say we won’t see another Ronaldo Champions League hat-trick.
The stats are heavily against goals here though, so we’re highly unlikely to see a hat-trick! Looking at Atletico’s Champions League record here would make you want to lay Real at 2.72 – Atletico have kept a whopping 16 clean sheets in their last 18 Champions League games here. That’s simply an incredible stat. They’ll have to be more attacking tonight though to stand a chance of going through, so maybe normal tactics don’t apply here, but that’s still important to note. In terms of under 2.5 goals, it’s also worth noting that eight of the last nine Champions League games here have seen under 2.5 goals.
Looking at the head-to-head between the sides too would suggest goals will be hard to come by too tonight. Six of the last eight meetings between the sides have seen under 2.5 goals – it’s always usually a tight affair and it’s hard to see Real setting up to attack either given the first leg scoreline. There doesn’t seem to be much value in the match odds market, however this one is screams under 2.5 goals and it’s trading odds against at the moment. We feel that 2.12 simply has to be backing looking at the stats here.
Eight of the last nine in Champions League here went under 2.5, six of the last eight meetings between the sides went under 2.5 and add that to the fact Atletico have kept 16 clean sheets in their last 18 home Champions League games and Real don’t need to score given the first leg – unders looks superb value at 2.12.
