CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: We preview Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg between BAYERN MUNICH v REAL MADRID with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

7.45pm Bayern Munich will get their chance at revenge on Wednesday night after Real Madrid dumped them out of the Champions League last season. Hopefully we have as much drama in this tie as Real Madrid had in the Quarter Final – getting through in the dying seconds with a penalty after losing a three goal lead. This should be a fantastic tie and it will be very interesting to see how both teams approach it tactics wise.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Bayern Munich 2.08, Real Madrid 3.85 and the draw is 3.75. In the To Qualify market things are very close, with Bayern Munich 2.02 and Real Madrid 1.93. That just goes to show how little separates these sides on paper.
We expect a tough night here for Real Madrid. Bayern have an excellent home record – they’ve won 18 of their last 12 games here in all competitions coming into this tie. While those games wouldn’t have been against a quality side such as Real Madrid, Bayern always play their best football at home and it’s more than likely that Real will be happy with a draw here.
Obviously both sides are jam packed with goals, with Ronaldo and Lewandowski the top men on either side. The markets are expecting a lot of goals here, with over 2.5 goals trading 1.66. In a huge semi-final tie, we often see cagey starts and we can see Real sitting back to begin with and working their way into the game. They will be aware of how dangerous Bayern can be here and we don’t expect Zidane to set his side up to attack.
It’s tempting to lay Real at 3.85, however they were impressive against Juve away from home – however with the late red card, they weren’t scoring a huge amount of goals until that happened. We’re going to go against the crowd here in the goals market and back under 2.5 goals at 2.46 – we can side both sides being cagey here with maximum respect for each other, and a few early nerves in such a big game. We like the bet from an outright and trading point of view.
