CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: A huge night of football at the Etihad with Man City facing Spanish giants Real Madrid in the first leg of their semi-final.
Man City v Real Madrid 7-45
Manchester City warmed up for their first appearance in a Champions League semi final comfortably beating Stoke 4-0 the weekend, the ease in which they won that game could be important as Pellegrini was able to take off Aguero and Silva quite early.
Real Madrid won the weekend too, except unlike City they needed a late goal from Bale to come back from being 2-0 down. Since Wolfsburg beat them 2-0 in the first leg of the Quarter Final, they have won their five games scoring 18 goals in the process.
The teams might scream goals, but there could be some value in under 2.5 goals at 2.14 or bigger – Madrid have kept eight clean sheets in their ten Champions League games this season, quite impressive. And while City have struggled to keep teams quiet in the Champions League in the past, they have improved somewhat, keeping clean sheets in their last two home games in Europe – and you have to factor in that it might be a little cagey in the first leg.
0-0 could be an option at 15.0 or bigger too, maybe even for a trade if the game starts cagey. If there is to be a winner tonight though, there is an argument towards backing City at 3.05 – Madrid have only won one of their last four knockout games in the Champions League, that was against Roma this season too, who aren’t the force they once were. City are in decent form at the moment and could be able to take advantage of Madrid’s away form aided by the return of Kompany and De Bruyne.
