CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WEDNESDAY: We preview Wednesday’s second Champions League semi-final between MONACO v JUVENTUS with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
MONACO V JUVENTUS
7.45pm Juventus did a number on Barcelona in the last round, however they would be fools to underestimate this Monaco side. They almost wrapped up the French League at the weekend winning 3-1 against Toulouse, and now sit three points clear at the top with a game in hand. They were impressive here beating Manchester City and dealt with Dortmund quite easily in the last round.
Juventus were able to keep a clean sheet away to Barcelona, and will need a similar performance to stop Monaco – who have been excellent going forward (only Barcelona have scored more goals than them in Europe this season). This is basically attack against defense here, and the odds at the time of writing currently stand at; Monaco 3.2, Juventus 2.46 and the draw is 3.45.
For all that Monaco are excellent going forward, they aren’t solid at the back. This is proven by the fact that they’ve only kept two clean sheets in their 14 games in Europe, and looking at their home stats – they’ve also conceded in their last six here in all competitions. An away goal for Juve would be massive, and it looks like they’ll probably get one or two tonight.
Can they stop Monaco though? Well, they’ve kept clean sheets in their last five Champions League games – quite a stat considering two were against Barcelona. They’ve also only lost once in their last 13 away Champions League games. The Monaco lay is tempting at 3.2, however we like the look of over 2.5 goals at 1.97.
We can see Juventus striking on the break here, as Monaco can hardly afford to go into the second leg happy with a draw here. Monaco will be aware of the superb record Juventus have at home, and with the firepower Monaco have, it should be tough for Juventus to stop them scoring. We can see a reasonably open match here as first legs go – certainly as the game goes on, and over 2.5 goals looks a shade of value at 1.97.
