CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUARTER FINALS: Some very interesting ties in the quarter final stages of the Champions League, with a Spanish derby taking place between Outright favourites Barcelona, and their rivals Atletico Madrid.
Elsewhere tonight Bayern play host to a Benfica side who will be looking for some sort of miracle to pull off their first European victory in the Allianz Arena.
Check out our preview of both games.
Barcelona v Atletico Madrid 7-45
Atletico will be hoping to repeat their heroics from two seasons ago as they knocked Barcelona out at this stage of the competition. They will be very much up against it as they have lost in their previous six meetings with Barca. The match odds are heavily in Barcelona’s favour here as they are priced at 1.56, with Atletico at a very high 7.6. The clean sheets & both teams to score markets could be very interesting in this tie.
Atletico have kept 13 clean sheets in their last 17 Champions League games which would lead many to think they could keep Barca out. But with that formidable front three in Messi, Neymar and Suarez, it is difficult to bet against them scoring. Atletico to keep a clean sheet is 6.0 on BETDAQ, where as there is not much value in backing Barca to score, coming in at 1.17.
Barcelona have not fared very well defensively against Spanish opposition in Europe in the past, only having ketp a clean sheet once in their 12 encounters. Coupling that with the odds from above, maybe looking at the Both Teams to Score market is a good approach, with the odds of both teams to score are 2.18 currently. The over and under 2.5 goals markets are also reasonably well priced with under 2.5 goals priced at 1.85 and over 2.5 goals priced at 2.14. Considering the stats for both teams, and the firepower on the Barcelona side, it will be a good guess of which of these markets is a safer bet.

Bayern Munich v Benfica 7-45
Benfica will be entering this quarter final tie with hope more so than expectation as they take on one of the top dogs in Bayern Munich. If you are one who goes by history of a fixture, then taking Bayern at a large handicap sounds a good bet. Benfica have lost all three of their away fixtures to Bayern Munich, conceding on average, 4.3 goals in each of these games. Bayern have also been the top scoring team thus far in the Champions League this season.
Based on this, taking Bayern at -2/2.5 looks a good bet at 2.4. You may also consider looking towards the over/under markets, over 3.5 at 2.68 seems a bit risky for the price provided, but over 2.5 goals at 1.66 seems a safer bet. Thomas Muller has been in fantastic form in Europe, scoring 14 in his last 15 European games, he is at 1.9 to grab a goal tonight.
The match betting prices are very lopsided as Bayern are 1.24 with Benfica at 16.5. This is not surprising considering Bayern are unbeaten at home in the Champions League in their last 10 games, and have come up against tougher opposition than Benfica in this span. One market not everyone would look at for this one is the Both Teams to Score. Benfica are the only other side apart from Barcelona to score in all 8 of their Champions League fixtures this season. It looks like Bayern are a certainty to grab at least a couple of goals, but for Benfica to also sneak one is 2.32.
