CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TUESDAY: We preview Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg game between LIVERPOOL v BARCELONA with the hosts having a 3-0 mountain to climb.
LIVERPOOL V BARCELONA
8pm Liverpool have a mountain to climb on Tuesday night as they try to bounce back from losing 3-0 in the Camp Nou last week. Looking at that game it was hard to believe that Liverpool lost by three goals; however Barcelona took their chances and are undoubtedly one of the most talented teams in Europe – they would be very fitting winners of the Champions League this season. Liverpool would love to upset the odds here though, however it’s hard to see Barcelona slipping up from a position like this.
We have an open market with the match odds at the time of writing currently trading; Liverpool 2.58, Barcelona 2.86 and the draw is 3.75. In the ‘To Qualify’ market; Barcelona are currently trading 1.06. We have seen shorter prices turned over after first leg results in the Champions League this season – and Liverpool have been absolutely superb in Anfield all year – but anything but Barcelona going through after 90 minutes would be a massive shock.
Barcelona wrapped up the La Liga title prior to playing Liverpool in the first leg, so the Champions League has their full focus and it will be very interesting to see what approach they take this evening. They will obviously want to kill the game and hush the crowd as soon as possible. Given the situation we can only see goals here and 1.66 on over 2.5 goals looks massive.
Liverpool have to attack but that will only create space for Barcelona and we can see plenty of goals here. The first leg was very enjoyable with some great football played and we can see more of the same here between two brilliant teams. Barcelona would love an early away goal and that might just open the floodgates as Liverpool chase the game. Over 2.5 goals looks at least ten ticks too big at 1.66.
