CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TUESDAY: We preview Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg between SPURS v AJAX at 8pm with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

8pm The Champions League semi-finals are here and we kick off on Tuesday night with Tottenham hosting Ajax. It’s fair to say that neither side expected to get this far when we had the quarter-final draws; they would have believed they could do it but known that they were big outsiders. Ajax have been simply amazing this season; they have got here by knocking out European giants Real Madrid and Juventus – nobody is underestimating them now! Spurs benefitted from Guardiola’s team choice in the first leg; but they showed wonderful courage and talent in the second leg. This should be a fascinating tie.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Tottenham 2.6, Ajax 3.0 and the draw is 3.45. While in the ‘To Qualify’ market we see Tottenham at 2.1 and Ajax at 1.89 – there isn’t much in that one! It’s hard to know what to make of Spurs losing 1-0 here against West Ham at the weekend; did they have one eye on this game? Things are tight in the race for a Top Four finish; but Spurs could get away with a bad result given how bad Chelsea, Arsenal and United have been.
Ajax warmed up for this clash with a 4-2 win and after beating Juventus and Real Madrid away from home; they will have plenty of support at the current 3.0 here. It’s a very interesting dynamic for this Ajax team now; they were wrote off in the last two knock out games and now they are strongly fancied – will that impact their performance? They have gone from having nothing to lose, to everything to lose now. Based on what we’ve seen in the Champions League thus far this season though, we have to lay Spurs here at 2.6.
Ajax have been simply superb away from home, and it’s hard to see either team being very attacking in the first leg. Spurs will know that it’s unlikely that they can go to Amsterdam behind and they’re unlikely to take too many risks in search of a winner if it’s level with 20 minutes to go. We feel having the draw and Ajax on your side here at the odds is a fantastic bet. If Ajax can beat Real Madrid and Juventus; Spurs are a good value lay at 2.6 to beat them!
