CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: We preview Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg game between ROMA v LIVERPOOL.
7.45pm Liverpool had more than one leg in the Champions League final when they were leading 5-0 in the first leg. They let two late goals slip though and Roma will take great belief in the fact that they managed to beat Barcelona 3-0 in the last round to get here! Liverpool should get through, but as we have seen in this competition this year – nothing is certain with a big lead after a first leg.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Roma 2.6, Liverpool 2.66 and the draw is 4.1. Liverpool have been excellent this season, and anyone who watched them take apart Roma towards the end of the first half last week will be very happy to back them at 2.66 here. Roma have to attack too being three goals behind, and Liverpool will enjoy the space given to them.
Liverpool had experience of protecting a big league in the Champions League last time out against Manchester City and they came through that easily. Roma have been very solid at home this season though, and we can expect a very good game here. Obviously after the first leg, the markets are expecting goals here with over 2.5 goals trading 1.44 – that looks pretty short, however the set up of the game and the two sides look ideal for goals.
With little value in the goals market and Liverpool being so impressive in the first leg, we’re happy to back an away win here at 2.66. Roma attacking should play into Liverpool’s hands; and they managed to beat City again in the second leg when protecting a lead. We can see them doing the same here, and impressively. It’s hard to stop them scoring at the moment!
