Three reasons to back Chicago

1. The Bears have an excellent offense that features two of the league’s best receivers, Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. The play of the offense is a big reason why the Bears have won 2 of their 3 road games this season, with those two wins both coming against top-10 defenses.

2. The Falcons are coming off back-to-back double-digit losses and their only two wins this season have come against teams with a combined record of 3-7. They’ve won just 4 times in their last 15 games, so they have no business being a 3-point favorite over a playoff contender like Chicago.

3. Atlanta has one of the NFL’s worst defenses, a unit that ranks 29th in both yards allowed and points allowed. Chicago has an offense that is loaded with skill-position talent, so they’ll likely have no trouble moving the ball up and down the field on Sunday. Of course, nobody has any trouble moving it up and down the field on these Falcons.

Three reasons to back Atlanta

1. The Falcons have been excellent at home lately, covering in 4 of their last 5 opportunities and winning both of their home games this season. The Bears, meanwhile, have covered just once in their last 5 road games against teams with losing records (and that streak doesn’t include last week’s loss to a mediocre Carolina team).

2. Atlanta ranks 3rd in the NFL in both yards per game and points scored, producing over 30 points per game so far this season. They’ve been especially dominant at home, where they’ve scored 93 combined points (!!) in two games. Chicago has a vulnerable defense that ranks in the bottom-half of the league in both yards allowed and points allowed.

3. Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan is on pace for a career year, as he currently ranks 3rd in the NFL with 316 pass yards per game. He’s helped by an outstanding receiving corps that features the incomparable Julio Jones, but Ryan deserves mention alongside the very best in the game. This week he’ll be facing a Chicago defense that will be without several key players due to injury, so another monster game for Ryan is expected.
