Bangladesh put themselves back into Semi-Final contention with their second win of the tournament vs West Indies on Monday by seven wickets. Just like all previous Bangladesh games, Shakib Al Hasan was their star man. I’m honestly running out of words to describe how important he is to Bangladesh. He got his second century vs West Indies finishing on 124. He got some help on the way as Liton Dias finished on 91. This was the first time a Bangladesh player got over 50 runs apart from Al Hasan. Mohammad Saifuddin and Mustafizur Rahman also played their part in that victory claiming three wickets each.
It will be the first ODI meeting between the sides since the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017 and that game was abandoned. They did square off to each other in a Test Series later that year in Bangladesh that ended 1-1. Bangladesh confidence will be high after Monday but Australia are operating at a different level at the moment the way they are playing. The forecast is for a bright day so I expect the Aussies to move within touching distance of a Semi-Final berth.
