CROMWELL REPORT: Following the news this week that BETDAQ have signed Grade 1-winning National Hunt and Flat trainer Gavin Cromwell as a brand ambassador, we have carried out our first stable tour.
Princess Yaiza
3yo f Casamento x Undertone OR 98
Big progressive filly, she won her maiden and a nursery in Dundalk and picked up black type at Navan on her last run. She’s now rated 98 and is likely to go for another listed race over 1m2f+ in the coming weeks. Royal Ascot is also an option for her. She’s an exciting horse who is still improving.
Lady Camelot
3yo f Camelot x Queen Jock OR 82
She won her 2yo maiden on debut at Listowel on bottomless ground last September. She’s ready to start back now and we’ll likely see her in Killarney in a couple of weeks for a median auction winners of one.
Breathe Easy
8yo g Redback x Inishmac OR 84
He’ll be campaigned at the Curragh in premier handicaps. He’s in good form at present and I’m looking forward to the Summer with him.
Fuwairt
6yo g Arcano x Safiya Song OR 84
He had a slight setback after his run in Dundalk before Christmas. He came back in 6 weeks ago and has done well since. He’ll be running in 6-7f handicaps and is capable of winning a decent pot at some stage.
Pandagreen
4yo f Casamento x Special Touch OR 77
Her aim will be the Ulster Oaks and we’ll work back from that. She went off favourite in it last year and had no luck in running. She’s a nice filly and hopefully can get on the board again this Summer.
Gunmaker
4yo g Canford Cliffs x Can Dance OR 71
We bought him at the sales last November and he surprised us a bit on debut for the yard when winning at Dundalk in December. After that win we decided to leave him for the grass and he’ll be out when the ground gets a bit better in the coming weeks. He’s a nice one to look forward to over the coming months.
Johnny Carney
4yo g Casamento x North East Bay OR 60
He’s one of the Gavin Cromwell Racing Club horses. He has a nice pedigree and although he disappointed on his first run in a handicap at Leopardstown, you can put a line through it as he didn’t handle the ground at all. He’ll be out in the next few weeks and hopefully has a race in him at some stage over the Summer.
Running In Heels
9yo m September Storm x Ceo Draiochta OR 98 hurdles/94 Chase
We bought her cheaply at Doncaster in January. She more than paid for herself when winning at Kilbeggan last week! She’s owned by a syndicate of ladies including my wife Kiva. She’ll be a fun horse over hurdles and fences throughout the Summer.
Jers Girl
6yo m Jeremy x African Scene OR 144
She has been a bit disappointing this season in Grade 1 company. She can keep going throughout the summer in conditions hurdles. She could possibly go over fences during the Summer also.
Soleglad
6yo g Scorpion x Tilaiya OR 102
He won a bumper for us at Stratford last Summer before going over hurdles. He’s a real Summer jumper and will appreciate better ground. He’s a nice type and hopefully can get his head in front in the coming months.
Callthebarman
4yo g Lord Shanakill x African Scene OR 108
He’s a half brother to Jers Girl. He’s won two on the bounce for us now, at Huntingdon in March and last week at Kilbeggan. He’s only a 4yo and is improving with every run. Hopefully he can follow up again in the coming weeks and we’ll keep going with him throughout the summer.
Augar
2yo c Garswood x Authoritative
He’s a lovely big colt, by Garswood out of an unraced Cheveley Park mare. He does everything nicely, has a great attitude and is one I like a lot. He’s one to keep an eye on at the back end of the season.
Unnamed
2yo f Dawn Approach x Rice Mother
She’s a big scopey filly. She has a lovely pedigree and is another back end 2yo worth keeping a close eye on.
