WINNER-A-DAY DAQMAN AT 7-2 AND 9-2: Daqman who picked horses placed 123 on Wednesday had returns of 122 in three races yesterday but his winners were good prices: Red Treasure (WON 7-2) and Juliet Sierra (WON 9-2)
BULL’S-EYE BETS ARE BACK TOMORROW: A weak start to the Haydock Sprint Cup meeting and more solid form and stronger bets to be had at Ascot. Kempton joins in tomorrow, with the return of win-50 bull’s-eye bets after three in a row.

BETDAQ 17.5 PLUG FOR ELECTRICS
⭕ 3.03 Haydock: Ghathanfar’s rise in the weights has pushed him into class 2, and he’s run well three races running off 90 and 92 at York, but that’s his favourite track; he last won there in class 4.
He’s 5lb off the unexposed Khanjar on recent form but gets only a pound here, and the threat to Khanjar may be Jordan Electrics, if he can reproduce his second in the John Smith’s Sprint in July. The winner went on to be runner-up in the Great St Wilfrid.
Despite wind surgery and gelding, Project Dante continues to make no show. Can cheekpieces and Hollie Doyle make a difference? Ventura Express is a class 4 and 5 winner out of his depth here, surely.
Misty Ayr is the ‘hidden horse’ after four Group races but that was last year and this is a belated reappearance run.
Abolish is hardly ‘hidden’ for one weak win in France and one even weaker in Norway, but has dropped 12lb since given a mark of 100 in England in December.
BETDAQ value I asked for even money Khanjar and was offered 17.5 Jordan Electrics.
MARMAR MIGHT BE GOOD ENOUGH
⭕ 3.45 Ascot: Three-year-olds have won five out of seven in this, and Al Marmar is joint-top of the ratings, even before adding his 5lb age allowance.
Short of room,then bumped; that was his fate in a class-2 big field at York the last day when unfancied at 25-1.
Al Marmar was also a big price, 22-1, when Hollie Doyle won on him here at Ascot (class 3) in July. The only time he’s been backed this season, he was beaten, which suggests he is not straightforward. But the opposition is even less trustworthy.
Oh This Is Us has been third twice – that’s all – in his last 18 starts and, though he’s dropped 25lb in that time, he’s also been unfancied at big odds. So, too, the other nine-year-old, You’re Hired.
Colour Image is a Bath specialist and United Front an AW campaigner; his turf CV record a dismal 0-11.

A RACE TAILOR-MADE FOR MIRAGE
⭕ 4.20 Ascot: Favourites have a poor record in this and Rebel Territory has failed twice before to step up a grade into this class-2 level.
The handicapper had a high regard for his Whitsun Cup win, hiking him 7lb, though the placed horses were both six-year-olds, beaten in a total of eight class-2 tries since.
Again the opposition isn’t scintillating. Roger Varian has got Greatgadian back from a 12-lengths defeat by Rebel Territory last October to win two small AW races over 1m 2f in the Spring but then he, too, lost three attempts in the class 2.
His best effort was third in the Shergar Cup here at Ascot but those races on the card of ‘musical jockeys’ entertainment are not standard form.
They got all excited about the grey Notre Belle Bete (‘all roads lead to the Lincoln’) after an AW double in the Spring but he was only ninth.
He came back to form on AW at Kempton but was 14th in the Royal Hunt Cup and the Kempton runner-up was 20 of 21 in the International at Ascot in July.
Collateral form has him a distance behind Dubai Mirage, who won the class-2 Whitsbury Manor Handicap at Salisbury in June, giving 21lb to a subsequent winner in second.
He’d always been giving weight away this season, and it had been no disgrace to be beaten at Nottingham by Dark Shift at a difference of 6lb before that one scored in the Royal Hunt Cup and was third in the International.
Now at last Dubai Mirage meets his rivals more or less on terms. It looks a race made for him.
Of the two ‘hidden horses’, Bopedro is six now, has changed stables and never won this high in the handicap; Group-3 winner and placed Positive was soon beaten in the Golden Mile at Goodwood and needs a big bounce back to his Pattern form.
