11.0 SHOT COULD CHANGE VENETIA’S LUCK: Ascot has some tempting BETDAQ offers to trap the tricky handicaps today. Daqman naps a course-and-distance winner and fancies Venetia Williams for a change of luck with an 11.0 bet.

TOMORROW: VALUE HEAD TO HEAD: Daqman and Pricewise are 0-0 for winners in their value challenge for the new Jumps season but hope to change their luck, too, head to head at Ascot and Haydock tomorrow.

GUYE’S LATE BID FOR FIREWORKS

⭕ 2.05 Ascot L’Homme Presse fans are getting anxious. Will you lay him tomorrow if Venetia Williams continues in such poor form today (0-23; last had a Jumps winner 210 days back) or is he a law unto himself?

This 2m 5f chase could be the turning point for the yard. It has had three winners of the race in seven years, and is going for a hat-trick today.

The breakthrough for the Herefordshire team might have happened in the opening maiden hurdle (1.10) via Hermes De Gouet, but the French recruit is making his hurdles debut after being twice favourite, twice beaten, in bumpers at Haydock and Exeter.

Espoir De Guye in this one – where espoir translates as ‘hope’ – won the corresponding contest in 2020, favourite, having his first run back, and scored again first time after a year off in February.

Venetia’s last year’s winner of this, Pink Legend, was also winning after the summer break.

All in all, there seems little room for excuses if Guye fails to engage top gear. What can stop him?

Do Your Job, Future Champions Chase winner at Ayr in the Spring, is down in grade after going like a winner in the Old Road Chase at Aintree but was knocked out by a mistake four out. Has had a wind op since.

Against Revels Hill is that he doesn’t win fresh and his back-to-back strikes in the Spring were over longer trips and shot him up 15lb in the handicap.

Your Darling would have to improve, though his trainer, Ben Pauling, was in cracking form up to Tuesday with four winners in three days (3-9 still standing).

One particular danger could be Robert Walford, who won this in 2018 with a 20-1 shot and has Sandown winner Foxboro in off a featherweight, though Stan Sheppard rides for him at Chepstow on Hititi’s chasing debut (2.55).

Betdaq Betting Exchange 5.5 Do Your Job, 11 Espoir De Guye.

CAT TIGER SET TO LEAP FORWARD

⭕ 2.40 Ascot Venetia Williams completed a quick double in this a year ago when the mare Kapga De Lily followed Pink Legend’s success in he 2.05. Kapga is back for more, 10lb higher.

She, too, was winning first time for the second year running, taking a decent scalp in Eva’s Oskar, runner-up in a cracking class-1 chase at Cheltenham on Sunday.

Cat Tiger won over today’s CD in January and has had wind surgery following a good second in the Foxhunters at the Aintree Grand National meeting.

Bobhopeornohope is a Westerner, progressive last season and well regarded by Kim Bailey, who won at Cheltenham last weekend with Does He Know, but he also runs El Presente in this, only recently fourth to Frodon at Wincanton and dropped a few pounds in consequence.

El Presente likes to run right–handed and cannot be ignored today if the ground remains good to soft, but his target is even better ground in the Spring for the Sandown Gold Cup.

BETDAQ value 5.4 Cat Tiger

BOX CLEVER WITH IN-FORM KENT

⭕ 3.05 Catterick Who’s In The box looks well handicapped to give Nick Kent his third winner from just four starters this month (form in eight days 131).

Hidden horse could be Mr Muldoon, who has won four times after a break for Dr Richard Newland, another trainer hoping his luck will change today.

Mr Muldoon has dropped 19lb since winning at Sedgefield 18 months back and today takes on two old boys in Potters Legend and Manwell.

High Stakes has never won a chase and Morozov Cocktail’s yard is out of form while Ladronne, well backed to win at Wetherby, has never put two races together before.

BETDAQ value 6.1 Who’s In The Box, 18.5 Mr Muldoon
