BULL’S-EYE BET AT UTTOXETER: It looks a pretty lean day but Daqman thinks that the novices chase at Ascot is a ‘must watch’; the winner could be special, of Fortune Cookie level. He also finds big offers at Uttoxeter worth a bull’s-eye bet to win 50 points.

FORTUNE COOKIES: 2023 FINAL: Daqman today completes his Fortune Cookies list as far as the form up to Christmas is concerned. See below: Ireland Steals the Christmas Show.

IRELAND STEALS CHRISTMAS SHOW

SAVILLS GOLD! Gerri Colombe has been switched from the King George at Kempton on Boxing Day in favour of the Savills Chase at Leopardstown on December 28, for which Gold Cup winner, Galopin Des Champs, is a surprise runner.

Fastorslow, who has twice beaten Galopin des Champs, is also in the line-up. If that field holds up, it would eclipse the King George, for which BETDAQ bets: 2.5 Allaho, 3 Bravemansgame, 6.5 Shishkin, 10 The Real Whacker, 11 Royal Pagaille, 15 Hewick, 34 Frodon

JOE PUBLIC MUST SEE THIS

⭕ 1.55 Ascot This novices’ handicap chase is a ‘must watch.’ If I could have seen it yesterday, I would probably have added the winner to that Fortune Cookies list.

It has thrown up quality jumpers, Greaneteen and Brave Seasco, in the last three renewals.

Homme Public is 2-2 over the toughest of fences in the business at Cheltenham and Wetherby.

He impressed when jumping straight into a handicap at Wetherby, beating Geromino, who came out and won a decent hurdle race last Saturday.

Homme Public was then gifted the Arkle trial at Cheltenham when the leader came down.

Trainer Oliver Greenall bemoaned the lack of a Henderson or Nicholls runner that day; well he has them both here at Ascot this afternoon.

It’s hard to imagine Lallygag winning for Ditcheat on the bare form but the drying ground will help.

He was well behind Henderson’s Persian Time when that one ran second at Newbury on the first day of the month.

That leaves Authorised Speed, who has long been an exciting horse at home but Gary Moore has taken his time.

He is a strong traveller and the trainer delights in running the big yards into the ground on a day like today.

Betdaq Betting Exchangee value has to be Homme Public at 5.9. Authorised Speed the saver.

14.5? STUNNING DOUBLE TAKE

⭕ 2.15 Uttoxeter Gavin Sheehan, who hit the headlines with his ride on Fugitif to lift the December Gold Cup at Newbury last week, has been called in to make the top weight click in this 2m 6f handicap hurdle.

It was Sheehan who rode Double Click to a Spring hurdles double, completed with a big weight on deep ground at Ffos Las.

Double Click, unexposed at five, had a run back in late November after the summer holidays and has the heavy surface he needs. A stunning 14.5 on BETDAQ.

The danger may be another five-year-old, Classic Maestro, who has run two good seconds in the mud recently, one of them only eight days ago, a neck defeat which caught the handicapper’s eye.

But, though he was raised to 105, Classic Maestro remains on his mark that day of 99. Sean Quinlan is back in the saddle for this longer trip.

DJELO’S RATING HAS JUMPED

⭕ 3.05 Ascot There’s only a couple of pounds between three of these on the ratings, with Kandoo Kid, the odd one out but progressive, up 11lb over his last three starts, winning a class 2 the last day at Newbury.

This is up in quality again, a Grade 2, where only Unexpected Party knows the territory.

But, while he’s been placed five times, including in novice-chase Grades 1 and 2, he has scored just the once from a small field at Chepstow, since January, 2022.

Djelo has jumped 15lb in the ratings for back-to-back wins at Newbury and Aintree, and is preferred to Might I, who had only an exercise canter the last day, after being beaten by his own jumping errors at Newton Abbot.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
