DAQMAN PROFIT THREE DAYS RUNNING: Daqman edged another profit yesterday, thanks to a 9-2 winner which booked its place at Cheltenham. That’s more than 18 points from three winning days in a row.
Thursday: 4 points profit on the day
WON 9-2 MARBLE SANDS from 7.6 on BETDAQ
Wednesday: 3.50 points profit on the day
WON 3-1 EARL OF TYRONE (nap)
Tuesday: 10.75 points profit on the day
WON 2-1 SHIGHNESS
WON 11-8 BIT HARSH
SEE HOW THEY WON AT AINTREE: Yesterday Daqman looked at live stats for the Grand National, for which 85 entries have been announced. Today he checks out routes to Aintree taken by winners since 2015.
ROAD TO THE GRAND NATIONAL
SEE HOW THEY WON: Where the last seven Grand National winners came from. Who is now in their hoofprints? One pattern is in the preparation of Delta Work along the same lines as Tiger Roll.
Noble Yeats (2022) Came under the Daqman heading ‘hidden horse’ when he won last year’s National at 50-1, only his second chase success.
Best form when 9th in the big Christmas chase the previous year at Leopardstown and 9th again in the Ultima at Cheltenham. The only clue was from stamina in his breeding (Yeats out of a Flemensfirth mare).
There might be a tip for this year’s race in that the winner of the 2021 Ultima was Corach Rambler.
Minella Times (2021) Another well bred for it (by Oscar), second in the Leopardstown Christmas cracker and same again in the Leopardstown Chase at the Dublin Festival.
Tiger Roll (2019) Winner the previous year and again took the cross-country title at the Cheltenham Festival.
Tiger Roll (2018) Cheltenham cross-country winner, following the footsteps of a previous Gordon Elliott National winner.
Now the same stable’s 10-year-old Delta Work is following the same route: beat Tiger Roll in the Cheltenham cross-country last March and finished third to Noble Yeats in the National.
One For Arthur (2017) Fifth in the 2016 Becher Chase over the National fences and six weeks later won the Warwick Classic (3m 5f).
Rule The World (2016) Ran second in the 2015 Irish National, 3rd in the Kerry National and 5th in the Thyestes.
Many Clouds (2015) Won the then Hennessy Gold Cup the previous November and 6th in the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
SASH TO FLASH HOME
⭕ 1.30 Kempton I thought Sashenka was worth a speculative play here with my having doubts about the front two in the Betdaq Betting Exchange market.
Dealing with the opposition first. Dan Skelton runs Iorens who was a beaten odds-on favourite last time out and is now arguably up in class as this looks a tougher class 4 than the one she was beaten in at Market Rasen last time out.
It’s also a half mile drop back in trip which seems quite dramatic on only her third start under rules bearing in mind she had previously looked a stayer in the making when winning a point.
Progressive isn’t really. She moved stables from Nicky Henderson to Dr Richard Newland and not many trainers are likely to find improvement with a former Henderson inmate. She was a fair second last time out at Chepstow but beaten 10 lengths and may need more help from the handicapper than the pound drop she gets.
In truth, it might not take much winning by Kempton standards and I think Sashenka has a squeak. Her last two runs have both been on the Flat here and she has run well over jumps previously – more silver medals than her sole win over timber admittedly but bridesmaid form could easily prove strong enough.
CRAMBO IN CALMER WATERS
⭕ 3.25 Bangor Fergal O’Brien did me a good turn yesterday with Marble Sands and the yard remain red hot with 10 winners from their last 36 runners.
Crambo can surely be forgiven his pulled up effort in the Grade 1 Challow at Newbury but the fact that he went off at 7/1 suggests they were hardly tilting at windmills. The race proved he was simply in at the deep end and this looks far easier.
He was previously unbeaten in two bumpers at Huntingdon and on hurdles debut at Ascot and can see off his rivals here which include Waspy who looks a little exposed now despite his consistency and Kankin who has shown promise with two seconds in bumpers but they have been his only runs in the space of two years.
PAY PACKET IN LAST?
⭕ 8.15 Chelmsford Single digit field sizes throughout for a low grade card in Essex tonight but I thought Channel Packet looked good in the last for Mick Appleby who rarely seems to go without a daily winner.
Channel Packet is a triple course and distance winner who went a close second off the same mark at Wolverhampton last time out and can get back in the winner’s enclosure here.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
