SUPERNAP HACKS UP AT EVEN-MONEY VALUE: Daqman landed his supernap yesterday by 21 lengths and 17 lengths, with maximum stakes on ‘one of Willie Mullins best-ever mares.’ For such a winner, Benie Des Dieux (WON evens) was big value, with success that would normally be expected of a long-odds-on shot.

🔹 PIPE PLOT LOOKS VALUE AT 10.0.

BETDAQ 26.0 MORNING COFFEY

Supernap yesterday, supernap tomorrow. My faith in Benie Des Dieux was justified in the Galmoy at Gowran Park yesterday. So was Willie Mullins’ shout that she was ‘one of the best mares we’ve ever had.’

That from the man who trained Quevega and Annie Power. He is torn now between running her in the Mares Hurdle or the Stayers at the Cheltenham festival, for which she was all the rage last night.

The 6.8 on the BETDAQ exchange this morning was the best price available. On the day, will she ever again be the value of her even-money win by 21 lengths and 17 yesterday.

Today’s trainer hype – ‘he’ll be spectacular’ – comes from Nicky Henderson about Mister Coffey in the novices-championship hurdle series qualifier (12.50 Huntingdon).

Mister Coffey was 26.0 this morning in the BETDAQ Sportsbook for the Supreme Novice Hurdle, sure to diminish if he romps home this afternoon.

CRACKING BULL’S-EYE DOUBLE

1.50 Doncaster The gambled-on Sue Smith lightweight Cracking Find (WON 9-2) was my first-ever Bull’s-Eye Nap in this race last year, and is today my first of 2020.

This brilliant jumper, who loves Town Moor, is a ‘hidden horse’ here with every chance of back-to-back success for several solid reasons.

After having the summer off, Cracking Find ran three times over the ‘wrong’ trip in the autumn, around half a mile further than today.

As a result he’s lost 9lb of his penalties for two winter wins at 2m and a close third, again here at Doncaster.

And he’s returning today after seven weeks’ break just at the time his trainer is back to form with current figures, still standing, of 10231112.

Cracking Find is not the only one plotted up for a double in this race. Duke Of Navan won it two years ago and is down in the weights. But he’s 12 now and a drop of 5lb may not account for his deterioration.

Wishfull Dreaming won the novice (12.40 race) on this card a year ago. Hawk High, a one-time Fred Winter winner, is consistent; that is to say, consistently beaten, a bridesmaid with form figures of 222.

PIPE PLOT LOOKS VALUE AT 10.0

2.35 Huntingdon (Pertemps Hurdle Qualifier) As I revealed earlier on Wednesday, the Irish qualifying rounds, rather than this Huntingdon heat – or, in fact, any others in England – are the top guides and have produced the last four winners of the Pertemps Final.

But Huntingdon’s has done well enough as a betting pointer for the future, particularly for place backers.

Last year’s winner was third in the Final at 16-1; the runner-up won his next race at 2-1; and the third took the Kempton Silver Plate at 20-1.

The 2017 winner at 12-1 won again the following year at 9-1 and, in between, was fourth in the Pertemps Final at 40-1.

That same horse, David Pipe’s Taj Badalandabad is back this afternoon, attempting a third win in the race, which looks a weak enough contest for him to go well again, though he hasn’t been effective since April, 2018.

Jonjo O’Neill, who won it in 2014, has a fragile seven-year-old in Palmers Hill, who has raced just six times in his life.

The handicapper did something not nice – not nice at all, sir! – in putting him up 9lb for winning a conditional jockeys’ race at Cheltenham 14 months back. He hasn’t been seen since.

Phoenix Way, all got up for the party today (wind op and tongue-tie) is another who’s been absent more than a year. He’s only a novice winner a grade lower, so this is asking a lot.

After winning at Cheltenham in December, Goodbye Dancer fell on the same course when backed to shoulder 10lb extra yet carrying only 10st.

Such is the poor quality of today’s class 2 that, rated just 3lb higher, he races off 11st 8lb here. I think it’s goodbye, Dancer; don’t you.

Anytime Will Do has won only at 2m but was not disgraced upped to today’s 3m at Newbury, out of the frame but beaten only four lengths in a big field.

Charles Byrnes is hoping the ground dries out a bit for good-going-only winner Doctor Duffy. Seldom runs a bad race but has to give weight away all round.

His pedigree does not support Dorking Boy’s step up to 3m but he doesn’t know that, and late last year he landed a double – total raise, a pound short of a stone – leaping two grades and half a mile. Very game and also 10.0.
