HOME-AND-AWAY SUPERNAP DOUBLE: Daqman checks out Day 1 of the Breeders Cup. He has a home supernap and an American supernap.

TOMORROW: Breeders Cup Day 2 and final fling on the Flat.

TWO UP FOR REPEATS AT EXETER

⭕ 1.50 Exeter Martha Brae goes for back-to-back success in this mares’ handicap hurdle, carrying the same weight but off a mark 4lb higher, which suggests that last year’s was a few pounds the better race.

In the belief that she has been prepared for a repeat today, I took the 8.0 on BETDAQ this morning.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 8.6 Martha Brae

⭕ 3.00 Exeter Another going for a repeat is St Erney. It was a better race last year when he won it; he has to carry a stone more this time, though actually rated only 5lb higher.

Ex-Irish Minella Buster made a winning chasing debut at Kempton in October, jumping better and better; a 9lb rise still has him in at the bottom end of this handicap.

BETDAQ value 6.1 Minella Buster, 9 St Erney

GOLD CUP: TIZZARD GOES TO WAR

⭕ 3.35 Exeter (Haldon Gold Cup) Paul Nicholls has won this Grade 2 three times in seven seasons, notably with Politologue (2017), but also with Greaneteen (2020), who is back for more today.

But Greanteeen was only fourth in this last year on his way to winning the Tingle Creek, which is his target again.

As a Tingle Creek winner he’s been lofted to 168 in this limited handicap chase, which he first won off 151.

Stable-companion Dolos gets a lump of weight today but is a Spring horse who usually saves his best for Sandown and otherwise is a hard horse to place, just short of top class, and nine now, with just ordinary handicap wins to his name.

Third Time Lucki was placed five times in a row – twice the winner in small fields – but edged up just 3lb in a five-month spell, and is inclined to want his own way. However, he is 1113 after a break.

War Lord also kept good company and also won only in small fields and went up just 3lb from November onwards.

But he and Third Time Lucki are the youngsters – aged seven – for a race which only one older horse has won in seven years, and Joe Tizzard is currently 111110, still standing, striking at 30% and won this race last year with a similar progressive sort in Eldiorado Allen.

BETDAQ value 3.4 War Lord

BREEDERS CUP, DRAMATISED VERSION!

⭕ 7.00 Keeneland (Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint) Abbaye winner The Platinum Queen leads the English challenge, but is drawn widest of all in stall 12.

Dramatised is the value at BETDAQ 7.2 this morning, trying to confirm Queen Mary form with Love Reigns, trained Wesley Ward, winning handler of this juvenile sprint for three years running.

Love Reigns led the Queen Mary (good to firm) until Dramatised took over a furlong out, and finished three-lengths fourth but will be harder to beat on this easier track.

⭕ 8.20 Keeneland (Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf) The home side usually wins this but Aidan O’Brien has a strong contender in Cheveley Park runner-up Meditate (BETDAQ 3.8).

Richard Fahey, who is responsible for The Platinum Queen in the Sprint, now runs the unbeaten filly Midnight Mile, by No Nay Never out of a Galileo mare but also gets a wide draw: 12 out of 14.

⭕ 9.40 Keeneland (Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf) Charlie Appleby had Last year’s winner at Del Mar with Modern Games, who won this year’s French 2,000 Guineas, and this autumn has landed the Woodbine Mile and run second in the Champions Mile.

Charlie Appleby and William Buick try to follow up on Friday with Silver Knott, who boosted the Champagne form of Chaldean by winning the Group 3 Autumn Stakes from subsequent Futurity runner-up, Epictetus.

Silver Knott, who will wear a hood (but only going to post) is earmarked for the same French Guineas and Derby route taken by Modern Games.
