11-4 WINNER IN TWO OUT OF THREE: 37 POINTS DAQMAN PROFIT: Daqman bit his lip yesterday when his nap, Point Of Order, failed to run his race at Hamilton and was stone last of five to One Bite. But Daqman turned the day round when his second and third selections produced two winners out of two and a double up for a profit on the day of more than 37 points:
WON 11-4 HARVEY DENT
WON 13-8 DARGEL
HAVE REGARD FOR THE TWO-YEAR-OLDS AS FUTURE CHAMPIONS: You’ve seen the 2020 Derby winner by now. Is that true or even half true? Daqman looks next week at where the Epsom winners come from, where you should be looking as the two-year-olds emerge. Starting today, he’ll be looking closely at the form and breeding of juveniles, spotting horses like Dirty Dancer and Dark Regard (see below). Headlines today:

THORNS IN THE SIDE OF THE LAYERS
2.20 Nottingham The nurseries are here, two-year-old handicaps featuring the usual suspects among smart handlers who have been manoeuvring a good pitch for their youngsters.
They’ve done it so well in this race that eight of the 10 winners in the decade have started between even money and 9-2, five of them out of stalls 1, 2 and 3, all with bags of experience like 3.05 favourite Ambyfaeirvine, the only winner in today’s field.
But Walton Thorns’ dam won her first race at Nottingham, and he’s got flying machines on both sides of his pedigree: Zebedee, Invincible Spirit, Lake Coniston, to name but a few as they say. The 10.0 BETDAQ offers this morning were tempting.
HOT DANCER: BUY, BUY AND BUY AGAIN
2.30 Newbury Dirty Dancer and Dark Regard (6.35 Hamilton below). What a shady duo! Both are two-year-old unknowns, fast fillies making the debut today.
They can’t get enough of Dirty Dancer. She is already on a roll without seeing a racecourse in that the €52,000 foal, was sold for €115,000 as a yearling then, in a recent sale, for €500,000. How to be a potential champion without breaking sweat!
Ralph Beckett’s daughter of the flying machine No Nay Never is out of a Duke Of Marmalade mare who produced Simple Verse to win the St Leger for him. Looked big this morning at 6.6 BETDAQ offers, with slightly better than evens a place.
Broome’s half-sister Sorteo is one to watch in any reprise of the race film. Then run it again and see what happens with Nasaiym; entered in the Lowther the Moyglare, has had a race already.
WEIGHTS CONCESSIONS MOTIVATE ME
3.05 Newbury Three-year-olds, who have half the field today, were responsible for ALL the winners of this race in the past.
In 2016, Purple Magic took advantage of a big weight difference with the other three-year-olds and today Motivate Me has 13lb and a stone start respectively on Sea of Faith and I’ll Have Another.
Sea Of Faith, odds on this morning, was impressive as a nine-lengths winner at Doncaster and will be hard to beat if there’s more rain. But the weight concession and offers of 5.3 in the BETDAQ orange motivate me against her.
3.40 Newbury Another tasty two-year-olds race which threw up Limato in 2014. Small fields but nine winners out of 10 came out of gates 1 to 4; only Limato was able to score from a higher stall.
The last five winners have started between 11-8 and 9-4, four of them favourite, and likely Gimcrack contenders, Al Aakif and Repartee, are vying for market leader.
Al Aakif is 2-2 but ‘beat nothing well’ and his pedigree is uninspiring. Repartee ran away from them at York, yet is described as immature and ‘will improve massively.’ We don’t want too much rain to spoil this duel.
PRINCE IS BACK TO HIS PERFECT TRIP
4.30 Nottingham Oasis Prince was not disgraced attempting a 10-furlong handicap at the July Meeting at Newmarket.
But three of his four wins had been at a mile, since he started his career in March and he’s worth having on your side in potentially fluctuating weather as he’s performed well from firm to heavy.
6.35 Hamilton I’m warned to take an early offer about Dark Regard, a beautiful Dark Angel filly whose dam, Best Regards, won first time out (and second). I got 3.5.
Byline was a decent second on debut and is surely open to improvement but Mark Johnston’s could be something special for John Dance, who has been lucky with the ladies, as owner of Laurens.
SUNDAY ALL SET TO BE A FRIDAY STAR
8.25 Newmarket I like some of these names: Bungee Jump is by Canford Cliffs; Lady Dancealot by Sir Prancealot. Shorter Skirt is by Showcasing out of Heading North, and the late Bated Breath foal was called Belated Breath.
The stats say that three-year-olds have beaten the older fillies and mares 6-4 in the decade, but they’re giving away the overnight favourite, Furious, who beat the new market leader, Shorter Skirt, more than five lengths at Wolverhampton before that one won at Newbury .
Third home that day, Lady Dancealot, is now 10lb better off and receives 4lb from Belated Breath who earlier beat her a length at Windsor.
Lady Dancelot is notoriously short of finishing pace and now they’re all handicapped in a heap, I’ll swerve them all and try Sunday Star, 7.0 on BETDAQ this morning and I’m asking for an even-money offer for a place saver.
Third in the Oh So Sharp Stakes as a two-year-old, Sunday Star drops several rungs in the ladder today to a class-3 handicap after trying Group-3 and Listed races this season. Trainer in form.
I seem to be on an Andrea Atzeni hat-trick today, with Motivate Me, Repartee and Sunday Star. Try some Daq Multiples.
