16-1 DAQMAN STRIKE AT BETDAQ 22.0: BETDAQ value was ripe for the picking yesterday and Daqman filled his wallet with Juniper Berries (at 22.0) at Salisbury on the exchange.
WON 16-1 JUNIPER BERRIES (BETDAQ offers of 22.0 taken)
50% TEAM IN TOMORROW’S BIG RACE: Daqman reckons the trends for the Haydock Sprint Cup tomorrow indicate six horses with a better than average chance, each relating to 50% strength in two or more stats areas.
HIT HAYDOCK SPRINT FOR SIX
⭕ 3.35 Haydock tomorrow (Sprint Cup): THE 50% LEAGUE A Three years old have 50% record; B winners out of stalls 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 total 50%; C carried 9st 3lb to 9st 5lb are 50%; D ran at York the last day 50%; E Rated 111-119.
SHAQUILLE (ABCE) Unbeaten in six starts over the last year, including the Commonwealth Cup on firm and the July Cup on good to soft.
MILL STREAM (ACE) Placed in big-field handicaps on firm before back-to-back Deauville strikes in the Pattern on soft for a total ratings rise of 13lb.
THE ANTARCTIC (AC) In the frame 9 starts from 10 over 5f to 6f until flopping in the Jersey Stakes (7f); extra furlong not the whole story.
RUMSTAR (AC) Out of the frame since winning the Cornwallis Stakes last October (5f) but 11lb higher now and improved to get within two-and-a-half lengths of Shaquille in the Commonwealth Cup.
SWINGALONG (AD) Lowther Stakes winner, then fourth to Lazoo in Cheveley Park. Third this year in the Fred Darling (7f soft) and in the Commonwealth Cup, two lengths behind Shaquille. Won a Group 3 at York the last day.
LEZOO (AE) Won the Cheveley Park last September, but out of sorts aimed high this season until returning to form on the July Course (6f good) the last day.
KESTREL TO SWOOP FOR O’BRIEN
⭕ 2.25 Ascot today Aidan O’Brien goes for a hat-trick with his two-year-olds via Kestrel (Justify out of a Galileo mare), following winners at Cork and Salisbury.
Charlie Appleby won this last year with a top-notch colt City Of Kings but his best two-year-old runner this weekend is Darling Jewel at Haydock (see below).
That leaves Godolphin represented in this opener by Saeed bin Suroor’s Olympic Candle, who does not have a striking pedigree, and is a surprise favourite this morning.
Otherwise, Kestrel (BETDAQ 4.3) has only to beat Moyassr and Ten Bob Tony, third and fourth, at Salisbury to the enigmatic Persica, well beaten since.
⭕ 3.10 Haydock Charlie Appleby’s juveniles have taken him back into the limelight with currently a 50% record from his last 16 starters; five out of eight winners were two-year-olds.
Darling Jewel, better than evens on BETDAQ this morning, faces another Dubawi colt, Andrew Balding’s Simple Endeavour. Balding has had four recent two-year-old strikes but none of them first time; his juveniles – even the best – usually hit their stride after a run.
DIAMOND’S VALUE AT HAYDOCK
⭕ 3.45 Haydock Diamondonthehill was just run out of it over a mile on firm ground here in early August, giving 7lb to the winner, Kathab, who went on to finish third in the Ripon Rowels. This drop to 7f should help.
Persuasion was winning at Thirsk 20 starts after his last success and it’s hard to envisage the six-year-old putting two wins together with a penalty on this fast ground.
All Canoodled’s success in more than three years has come only on the wide Newmarket courses and William Buick has his work cut out. BETDAQ value 6.9 Diamondonthehill.
LOOK OUT FOR HARRY IN HOOD
⭕ 5.20 Ascot A fast break down the centre of the track from a low number has taken this race by the scruff of the neck for the last two years.
From the one stall today, Harry Magnus has not been the sharpest starter, coming from behind for an early-season victory in first-time tongue-tie but showing not a lot since.
However, the superscript figure one (¹) next to the ‘t’ for tongue-tie in the cards today should, in fact, be recorded against the ‘h’ for hood. That hood could make all the difference to his performance and to this race.
Pastiche (stall 3) beat a moderate lot at Newmarket but excuses are made and she has been gambled on this morning.
Metahorse (4) has a worrying hat-trick of near misses (form 322), as if imitating Gulmarg, who is 2203333202 since he last won; he doesn’t really want it, does he! De Bruyne has won only his maiden, always a bad sign.
That leaves Kimnkate, who has climbed from class 6 to class 3 since June, with a run of 1121212, beaten a total of only a couple of lengths overall in her three seconds.
Betdaq Betting Exchange 3.7 Pastiche, 12.0 Kimnkate, 15.5 Harry Magnus
